My house
This is what I hope to eventually be able to do for my future house. First of all, and most importantly, the land. I want it to be fairly sizeable, with a forest nearby or part of my property. I would like it near a river for hydroelectric reasons but failing that it needs to be able to be zoned for a wind generator powerful enough to provide all the power I might ever require. I also need it to be capable of providing geothermal heating and cooling. Plus obviously a well & septic system. It needs to be close enough to a city, preferably a 10-15 minute drive but no more than 40.
The house itself I want to be a 2 story building with a decent sized attic and a basement. The attic can be used as both a storage area as well as an extra bedroom. It will also contain access to the roof should I include a platform for stargazing. The second story will consist of mostly bedrooms, around 2-3, with a study/office & hopefully a decent sized library. It will also include a full bathroom.
The first floor will be the primary living area. This will include a decently sized kitchen with attached pantry. The dining room must be big enough to hold a table big enough to seat a maximum of 10 people & include space to store tableware. The living room would have a a few chairs and sofas facing a moderately sized television, & a bay window overlooking either the front yard or the back yard. Oh, and a grandfather clock because those are cool :D Somewhere will also be the master bedroom on this floor, with attached bathroom large enough to put a big jacuzzi as well as a decent sized shower. It will also include a half bathroom for guest use.
The basement will have a large area where the major entertainment takes place. The entertainment room will have a giant television or projector screen and excellent surround sound system. This will be used for watching movies, sports, and playing video games. There will also be a few other things like space for darts or a billiards table and a table for table games like poker or D&D, etc. It will also include 2 other rooms. Maybe 3. One will be where the equipment like HVAC system, circuit box, phone line junction (I'd like to have a PBX system like offices have), central computer system (storage server as well as primary server for any computer controlled house functions.) Another room will be the washroom. This will be where the washer and dryer are, as well as a linen closet & sewing area for basic linen repair. A third room will likely be a work room where I would do my projects like computer repair & the like.
I would love to have a 2-4 stall attached garage but it can be separate. However I do want one garage large enough to hold a tractor trailer rig if I ever have a trucking buddy visit. Heated of course, if the winter months get freezing. One of the car stalls needs to be big enough as a workshop for carpentry or machine work.
It may never fully happen but this is what I would like!
