So I've got a chance to move up in the company, and switch to a pickup/delivery position because apparently nobody above me in the linehaul area wants it. Problem is, I'm not sure I want it either. On the one hand it would have me working daytime hours again, which would be nice. I'd have my weekends free unless I picked up some extra weekend work

Not what I'd call a promotion. Depends on how much you value sleeping at night.

I guess it's not so much a promotion as much as it is getting my foot in the door to better pay (eventually.) But I'll be sticking with the linehaul gig for a while.

are having your weekends free and working days worth more to you then the 170$ you'd loose as well as the stress of drinving down unknown? if it is than take it. if it isn't then stick with what you ahve and enjoy

It would get my foot in the door to a better P&D position eventually, (and there's a chance I may not have another opportunity for quite some time) but I've decided that I'm going to at least stick with my current run until I've paid off my credit card, and maybe a good portion of my auto loan. At least the credit card though.
