The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well, let's see.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicise those you intend to read
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them

I am all a rage. German does not have a word for cupcake! Germans do not have cupcakes! If I want to talk about them I have to say "Ich backe gern kleinen, muffinaehnlichen Kuchen, der in Papier gebacken wird."

Essays can be likened to forcing oneself through a strainer, or grating skin like nutmeg. I would just like to sleep and never wake up, I would self-subvert infinitely till I no longer resembled myself and felt small in low-ceilinged rooms, just so I might never again do badly in something that mattered. 300/1500 words due today, 12 hours ago, oh ( Read more... )

Sitting on an unmade bed with newly moisturised legs and These Days playing, perhaps woodenly, a little breeeze in the garden and from my window I can see the enormous 3-tiered rainbow catherine wheel spinning faster and faster, now stopping suddenly, and everything becomes a little stiller. Constrict.
