Progress report aka What is wrong with me?

Nov 16, 2010 00:33

So, I had this idea for a short romantic tale. I never wrote a Star Trek AU, and I guess I was reading too much of SPN shmoop at the time, so I started writing before I knew it, thinking that I'd get it out of my system and go back to, you know, serious business *cough* DNSB. You know what happened? I was cautiously aiming for 20000 words, and now ( Read more... )

Because you're just that awesome and details matter. ::grins:: Listen: Short form story is by far the most common in fandom. The fact that you can do that many words for the essential Harry met Sally thing? Means you're amazing. Embrace it.

Well, A) you're biased. B) It's either that or, as one reviewer once told me, it's an oral diarrhea. Which, you know, a possibility.

I'm not biased. You wouldn't have the fanbase you do if not for A.) Talent and B.) A necessity for someone to tackle novel-length works that fill a definite need. This is me looking at the empirical evidence and drawing a conclusion that someone who writes Vulcans should totally be able to agree with. XD!

Haha. Flattery will get you everywhere, we've determined that.

Also, you and I both know that most people are frightened by long stories. For the love of me, I couldn't ever figure out why, but it's the truth. The online truth at least.

So Vulcans or no Vulcans, I'm totally screwed. >.<

You can always try stabbing it with a fork. Maybe it will die on its own?

I tried drowning it in alcohol. Still here.

Alcohol? So now you see why it is so long: pour some % on that and it will grow like a crazy tribble. Rule number one: you stab it with a fork. Never EVER use something more alcoholic than a lemonade, or you will end up with Never Ending Story.

Spoken from experience, I take it? ;)

I am so impressed with that wordcount-- how long did it take you? But on the other hand, I understand how frustrating it can be when a story just won't shut up. The Riotverse was originally intended to be a one-shot (albeit a Jane-style one-shot of more than 10,000 words), and now it wants to be a 400K+ epic when it grows up.

Considering this is you and your writing and your story, though? I heartily approve of these developments. Go for it! Get it all out of your system, we will return after these messages, etc., and then get back to DNSB. :P

Oh, bb, it so wouldn't shut up... I fear it's growing into a verse, and it has absolutely no business doing so! *grumbles*

I started the file about 4 weeks ago (just checked). That said, I really started writing a week later, I think. I would have been screwed if it was a NaNoWriMo fic, but that's just the thing. I didn't plan on it. It came out of nowhere and decided to stay. Grrr.

Get it all out of your system, we will return after these messages, etc., and then get back to DNSB. :P

Amen. :D

It is a K/S story. *g* It goes something like this:

Spock is staring at him now, and Jim is in so much trouble ( ... )

When Harry Met Sally was a great movie. There's no shame in a good Harlequin, as long as it doesn't end up like *shudder* Australia.

Whatever it is, I'm looking forward to reading it.
