Just...ugh...

*calming breaths*  It's just...yanno, as someone who cries at Holocaust movies, has been to the museum in D.C, has shaken the hand of a woman who survived Auschwitz, has a girlfriend who had family members sent to the camps, I...just wonder how the fuck someone could be that stupid and insensitive and... *calming breaths*.

Perhaps I don't sound ( Read more... )

I have never heard of this fic before; am I to take it that Nazi!Xigbar has sex with or rapes Gay!Demyx? (I suppose Jewish!Demyx is also possible.) Insensitive to the subject matter is probably the most polite thing to say about something like that.

Yes, Demyx is Jewish, they're both gay (another point against the author- gay people were sent to the camps as well as the Jews), and there is sex in practically EVERY CHAPTER.

I'm generally a polite person, I like to think. Really, this is the first time I've ever been so pissed off with fanfiction that I had to say something about it. Usually I just stop reading if I don't like it, but I think this extends far past the usual crimes of OOC or character-bashing.

as the sporker of this horrible fic, commonly known as "El Fuhrer," and the instigator of many, many horrible jokes which I take with a grain of salt, I give this rant an A.

I'd give it a gold star, but, er...

yes I do realize that my comments here are very tasteless.

^_^U Err, yeah, I understand. I actually really like your spork, I think I'm going to go back and read it to regain a bit of my sanity.

Thanks for the A. I think this is my first time actually ranting about something, so I'm very glad that it was recieved well by the comm.

*takes a deep breath*

I remember coming across this fic at some point in time and I was so horrified and disgusted that I was literally shaking.

I can't say anything else except agree with you. The Holocaust/WW2 era is my point in history to research and delve into and examine all sides of. To see it debased in such a way, just for the sake of buttsex, angers me beyond all belief.

I think a great deal of us were sickened when we came across it, I know I wanted to bash my head into the monitor at many times through reading this.

I really just can't believe that she do this and then claim "I tried to make this as historically correct as possible." it's...just...ugh... were her teachers just total idiots? Did she pay attention at all to her history class? I just can't believe that someone so plainly and honestly DOESN'T CARE about this. It just breaks my brain and my heart to think about.

I found an AU where Roxas was a gyspy and how he was hunted and blah blah blah and I was all "seriously? Why.. I... " my mind boggled. Why do you need such a setting?

Years and years ago (the dark ages) I wrote a SM fanfic that loosely touched on the WW2 era, but there was no romance involved (never got past two chapters) and it was a touch on history and researching the life of one girl. Withing one/two chapters, I had a girl from Germany email me, asking me about that fic, why I chose that time, etc.

It was interesting to see my fic trigger such a response. It wasnt' an angry one, just a... curious one, I guess you could say.

It's like they're just doing this to make people mad. And...I guess I wouldn't be surprized if they were, actually. I guess they think that using infamous time-periods like that mean 'auto-goodfic!' when it really does the opposite *sigh*.

If she was just 'curious', I guess it couldn't have been that bad ^_^U. If you don't mind me asking, why did you write it in that time period? Was it to make a point, or did it just seem like a good idea at the time?

At the time, I was doing research about a resistance group in Germany; The White Rose. A lot of the more quiet groups, the ones that just used words, have gone unnoticed through history. So I made a passing reference to them, and I tried to do a small bit of "this was ordinary life" during this time.

I thought (and still do at times) a lot of the ordinary gets left out. During one of my university classes, we had a speaker that lived during WW2--and she wasn't a Nazi and she wasn't one of the persecuted. She had been a normal little girl that had been fed the propaganda with no idea of what it meant. She had a friend that she played with every day and one day, she saw the girl meet up with one of "those types of people" and she was confused and later she found out her friend was Jewish and she shunned her.

Later on, her friend was taken away and she never saw her again. It was heartbreaking to hear such a story, but that was what life was like then and I wanted to do an ordinary, simple story that touched on that.

uh, long ( ... )

So that's why her story shows no negative reviews--she deleted them! I wondered about that, because surely human decency is not yet completely dead and someone must have reviewed saying, "Not cool, dude, not cool."

"One of the best written XigDem fics you'll find" my ass. I mean, even aside from the callous rape of history, no way is that anything that could pass for well-written in a poor light. (First point: it is important that your characters not all talk the same. Especially not all like Xemnas.) To be perfectly honest, I've read so much fiction set in the Holocaust and/or WWII over the years (thank you, public education) that I'm willing to give a story set then half a chance. At the very least, I can see where you'd get the impression that it might be appropriate fic-fodder. Even for romance. There are some of those out there. Some of them are even decent. It's possible ( ... )

You only can delete anon reviews, there are 2 that tell her off. I was really tempted to give her my two-cents but...why bother? It's not like she or her beloved fans were going to listen to me, it'd do nothing but incite flame-wars.

I have read better XigDem that would be labeled 'badfic' by this comm. Just...the OOC alone was enough to make me want to stab my eyes out.

You noticed the dialogue problems too? Ha! I'm not going crazy! I mean, the way they all talk just sounded so...awkward...it just didn't fit in with anything.

This would all be SO MUCH EASIER if the author was some Jew-hating-Nazi. That might explain why this fic was so bad. Then it's not about someone who (hopefully) knows better and just doesn't care, it's just a stupid Nazi. Then no one would read her fic and no one would like her, because no one likes Nazis apart from other Nazis. But it's just not that easy, is it ( ... )

I'm tempted too, but I'm pretty sure that the opinion of someone who doesn't like Xigbar/Demyx doesn't count in her precious little worldview. But if I keep going to look for updates to fic I like and finding her piece of crap instead, I may lose my temper and read the whole thing in order to leave a truly blistering review ( ... )

I know the feeling, just resist temptation. There's really no point if she's just going to be a stuck up brat about it.

Arrgg...did she ever pay attention in school? Did she read 'Huckleberry Finn'? She could learn quite a bit about dialogue from that book. Did she read Shakespeare? Chaucer? They have different speech patterns and formal/informal terms for their time periods. What about this is so hard to understand?
Those things in the fic were not KH characters. They had the same names and similar apperances, but they were definately not the same. (I was wondering about the Aryan-Jews too, I mean...wtf?)

Good point, my bad. I have had the good fortune to have never read 'Mein Kampf', so I couldn't say for sure. I've never read this 'Mysterious Edge of the Heroic World', so I'll look into it. Oh, and my history teacher has some pretty good textbooks: they don't sugar-coat shit and they're fricken heavy. I'll see if I can get a truckload dropped on her.
