I started a new job yesterday. No more library for Karen (well, no more after next Thurs). I now have paid sick days, a set schedule and hours every week, health insurance, dental insurance and the possibility of performance based raises. It's like A REAL FUCKING JOB. Also, also... I visited the site of the POW camp Vonnegut was held at in Dresden.

Also, I have picked up enough German to successfully buy 7 day transport passes from non-English speaking German women. And enough to understand disagreements in pubs over who wrote the music to Peter and the Wolf, Prokofiev or Tschaicovsky. Go me.

On our way back from Dresden a few days ago, we sat in a compartment on the train with a Japanese-German Kafka scholar.
