Worldcon 2021 Trip Days 17-18: DC to Chicago (via the Capitol Limited)
We were fortunate that the first available taxi to take us from the Omni Shoreham to Washington Union Station was big enough to hold all of our luggage. Train arrival times can throw up some unexpected problems. In December 2019 I got the late train from Seattle to Vancouver. It was supposed to get in at around 11.30 pm, but of course they can't guarantee it. I discovered many US hotels won't hold your reservation if you arrive after midnight, so I had to find a hotel that was both willing to hold the reservation and also had a 24- hour staffed desk so we could actually get in the hotel. As it happened the train did arrive late so I was happy to have put those atrangements in place. It was well worth it to take the train though.
