Yesterday was an SFSFC Board of Directors meeting, of which I am currently the corporate Secretary. Among the various items of business was the need to elect directors for three year terms commencing January 1, 2025. SFSFC currently has thirteen directors elected for three-year terms in groups of 5/5/4. This year was the group of 4, and my own seat ( Read more... )

I was able to combine the eight separate segments of the Monday 2024 WSFS Business Meeting (aggregate size 21.7 GB) into a single video (4.5 GB) and upload it to my YouTube channel last night. I then removed the eight individual files. So there are now only four files in the playlist:

Lisa and I had the Full Scottish Breakfast in the dining car on board the Caledonian Sleeper, and were in the final seating, so we were just finishing breakfast as the train pulled in to Glasgow Central. We made it to Glasgow, and it was the day before Worldcon.

I ended up sleeping all the way to 11 AM this morning, so breakfast was off the menu, and none of the brunches we looked up sounded appetizing to Lisa. Instead, after I got showered and dressed, I got more fish and chips from across the street. After lunch, Lisa and I went for a walk.

Our unexpected free day in Denver was useful. We didn't have to set any alarms, and we still managed to wake up after eight hours of sleep with plenty of time to get the included breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Denver. The staff at the hotel have been very helpful, even though they are having to work with a hotel whose HVAC system ( Read more... )

So today I had to make some tough decisions about what to pack. I have to carry some of our camera gear in my luggage, and I need to leave space for Lisa to give me things to take home with me. My United flight appears to allow two checked bags, so I'm trying to squeeze a soft-sided empty bag into my large suitcase that I'll use to for the homeward ( Read more... )

Once I got Lisa's travel sorted for her European trip so that she can get home, I turned my attention to getting me home. I'm very glad that I was relying upon United miles to get home, because the one-way flight LHR-DEN-RNO would have cost more than $3200! Using points, it was only around $250 in fees and seat up-charges because the seat I wanted ( Read more... )
