GAH!! plus a bit of melodrama for your reading pleasure

I hate knitting right now. hate it hate it hate it. I frogged a scarf today, started over, and now I'm going to have to frog it AGAIN because I can't fucking figure out Seed/Moss stitch. I did it right the first time, but I had an even number of stitches, which made the pattern I wanted to do impossible. So I frogged it and started over with an odd ( Read more... )

Personally, I'd love to come to a Thousand Cats meet-up - it's been impossible thus far, since I was essaying like a madwoman during the last one, and am currently in New Brunswick. But I do plan to follow through upon my return with all sorts of creative goodness, despite being all shy and awkward and such. ;)

you, who charges crazy old men in stores, SHY??? nah. don't believe it for a second. ;)

but at the same time, most of the people who are interested in TC are of the shy, awkward, creative type, so you'll be amongst like-minded folk, if and when you are able to come.

Hopefully January will be easier on ya.

If you'd like some random seed stitch advice, I always try to look at the row below the current row. If I see a knit V below, I purl, and if I see a purl bump, I knit. But seed stitch is very forgiving of errors, if you miss a couple (and I always seem to). You can use an even number of stitches, if you can remeber to alternate starting out with a knit or a purl. (Sometimes the hanging tail of the cast on helps me figure out what side I am on).

Thanks for the advice! I am finally able to figure out which is a knit stitch and which is a purl stitch just by looking at it. Before my ordeal, I couldn't. Got too confuzzled. But no more! Muahahahaha!

The very idea of chasing Moo continually makes me feel more tired. And it isn't fair for me to go and then ask other people to help me watch him when they've come there to do crafts, you know?

Until he can be left at home alone for an afternoon (and Frolic's fine with watching him), I don't see myself making any TC meetings. :(

Two semi-serious suggestions:

1. Bring your babysitter with you. I met her Tuesday night at a party and she's nifty cool! Maybe she could help with Moo watching, and get some good chitchat time in with other folks. I hear she's trying to meet more people.

Aside from TC stuff, I wouldn't mind having the three of you over anyhow.

2. Hypnotize Frolic into believing he's the best parent ever, able to take care of Moo sans problème any ol' time for ya.

1) You met Kathy somewhere?

2) Oh, he's perfectly capable of watching Moo for 3 hours, like he does when I go to bellydance class. But Moo starts needing nursing if I leave him in the middle of the day for longer than that, and considering it takes me 45 one way to your place, I'd be gone a lot longer than 3 hours.

1)Yup! Apparently, she went to grade school with darkarts777, who had a small bday party Tuesday night. It wasn't until I'd been there for some time that we got on the topic of LJ and she mentioned the one journal that she occasionally looks at that I realised she knew you. Now I'm no longer known as the "fetish lady" for her. Heh.

2)poo. cf. suggestion #1 ;)

... everything I make looks homemade. Cuz it is and I'm unskilled.

I would love to be empowered.

I just wish it wasn't such a busy season. >_< And they hadn't chosen this week to renovate my freakin' house!!

I'm willing to commit to doing the second Saturday in january though.
