I thought of a dangling participle the second I got into sionnain's car. "Barking, I petted the dog." Because, y'know, it's the dog who's barking, but when it's tacked onto the front of the sentence like that, it sounds like the person's barking.

This morning I was walking down Broadway and saw an older woman, probably 60ish, coming down the sidewalk the other way. She was dressed in ordinary black business clothes and looked very "normal" and straitlaced. Until I got closer and realized...she was wearing striped tights and ruby slippers..
