Am at College Work. There are loud people roaming around my building. Loud!people are loud. I have closed the door to our offices. They're theoretically not open yet, and the last thing I need is people wandering up here because they think my office is part of the art gallery or something, which happens all the time. No, it's not part of the art gallery, and no, you can't go in the art gallery either, because the whole area is still a wreck from the Endless Remodeling Project. And I'm trying to check a list of authors for the reviewing website get some Important Work done for the department.
My owie looks better, but I still have a lovely Band-Aid on my forehead. I hope this heals soon. It looks stupid. I guess I should be glad that the counter I beaned myself on was made of cheap particle board, not something harder.
Just read Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely, and really liked it. It could have used some more fleshing-out of the characters, but it was pretty good, IMHO. It's YA, but it's the kind of urban fantasy I miss in the adult section, where there are far too few novels about the fae and far too few novels about heroines who aren't uber-badasses, just regular girls/women up against the things that go bump in the night.
Half of Amazon hates it. There's a contingent that is criticizing it on normal literary grounds, but there's also a contingent that consists of the more batshit variety of Twilight fan, and I think they're angry that Aislinn's choices are different from Bella's in a way that is spoily to explain. I'll say that I like Aislinn better.
