Family visit!
My lovely husband came up with a solution to my mom not having the funds to visit us this year. He suggested that we offer to pay for her flight. Then, since she would be staying in our guest room, she wouldn't need very much money. She was thrilled with the offer. Today is my one year anniversery of living in the UK. I hope the homesickness will lessen as time goes on. I don't think I would have been able to deal if I hadn't gone home to California at Thanksgiving. I'm so glad that I got to see my families again. Snow!
There's lots of snow up here this morning. All the hills are white. And there's about 4 inches of snow in my work parking lot. Which made parking and trying to walk to the building fun. Wish I had worn some boots today. -

Crazy weather
Today at work we've alternately been blinded by the sun and snowed on. Right now we appear to be having a blizzard. This is like the third time it's snowed today. There are big fluffy white flakes coming down and they seem to be staying on the ground this time. Looking out the window is like being in a snowglobe. -

Driving theory Test
Just to let all you folks (who still remember me, anyway) know, I PASSED the UK Driving Theory Test. Thanks mostly to my lovely hubby who bought me a practice CD-ROM. The test was a total piece of cake after practicing on the CD. Next week I have my first driving lesson. Should be weird to see all the bad habits I've picked up in the last 8 years. -

Provisional UK driving licence: £38
Theory test: £21
Driving lessons: probably £15 per hour
Practical test: £55
plus a 2 hour lesson so I can take the test in the instructors car: £30
Having a full UK licence: about £200, erm, I mean, Priceless
