A Brief Update

Hey ladies and gents,

Long time, no blabber.  Rest assured, I've been lurking about, but I simply haven't had the energy to bore you with my rants, my navel-gazing, and my witty bons mots lately.  I can't say if I'll be back to norm any time soon, but I hope so.

I hated that part of working at Foleys. I was the employee trainer at one of Foleys' flagship stores years ago, before they became Macys. That's all the talked about, ALL THE TIME. Credit apps, credit apps, credit apps. I had to go out on the floor and observe the employees and note every time they missed the chance to offer an application. It was sickening.

Note to self: Never shop at Foley's. :-)

It was sickening.

Exactly. That's how I feel every time I have to go into work for shift longer than 4 hours. How some of those women managed to last 2 or 3 years with this craptacular company, I don't know. I guess they're just more easy going than me.

I suppose one upside to this gig is that I learned about how this company treats their employees and really doesn't give two shits about their customers. So, once I get a decent FT job, I'll be making a concerted effort to pay off my store credit card with them and kicking this misery-maker to the curb.

Which is unfortunate because they really do offer some decent clothes for us Amazons. I have some pants from this store that I actually need to hem because they're too long. Go fig. :-\

Thanks for the support! I have a job interview tomorrow for another PT gig. And I tentatively have another interview/meeting next Monday for a different company. But I think I'll have to reschedule that one.

I'm trying to get a PT job as a server at a restaurant. I can easily make 3x the amount of cash + taxes in one week waiting tables than I can folding clothes and pushing credit cards in one week at the retail store.

I just have to prove that I still have what it takes because I haven't waited tables since college. Boo. Believe it or not, it was the most enjoyable job I've ever had. Odd.
