Right, who knows about Internet cookies? Our cookies have all been eaten deleted and we didn't do it. Worse, they won't come back. And Fast Switching doesn't work: if Matt's logged on and I Switch User, I get as far as the Welcome Screen but can't get into my account, or anyone else's except Matt's; it just diverts me back to the Welcome Screen ( Read more... )

Check for viruses going 'om nom nom' on your cookies is the only suggestion I have....

In a related note, I was going to buy Matt an axe for Christmas but I thought he might practise for the impending Zombie Apocalypse at Dragonstar...

They hadn't been changed on the main Internet Options bit... I'll get Matt to run a proper Search & Destroy with Spybot and to see if he can find anything daft. No doubt by the time I come back from Burnley I'll be in the mood to reload XP anyway, in preparation for networking(!!), and download Firefox (as I've been using Opera occasionally at work and have gotten partly used to this whole tabs thing finally). Must make sure someone who knows stuff about computers (I can think of plenty in Nottingham) is on hand to pop round in case I cock it up though!

It's just weird because it's not done anything like this before. I know you can't say 'if it's not broke, you don't need to fix it' with computer stuff, but that attitude's worked for me until now ;P

How is disk space on the machine?

p.s. use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. Much better.

Got more than half left: we're using about 20-odd gig on a 60GB machine.

I have every intention of getting Firefox, I just want to reload Windows and get the network set up first :D
