I hear you loud and clear. (Border Collie is a GREAT analogy for my brain too, come to think of it.)
In winter I struggle with my ambiversion - I tend to test about in the middle for those personality sorters and there are times when I really feel like I need to hole up and hide away to recharge, and times when I really feel like I need people around me to do so. And it's like, with the short days, I lose track of that and the cold and dark makes me think I want to spend more time holed up than I actually do, so I self-isolate and it gets ...bleah.
Anyway. Yeah. I hear you. Here's to being kind and resting the Border Collie instincts this season...
Personally, I'm always battling FOMO vs. Actually, what I want to do is eat pizza and watch Star Trek with hubs and cats. That's not very good for friendships or productivity or anything else!
