The next thing I'm going to rant at you about is (probably) Game of Thrones: Ascent, a Facebook game that, like all Facebook games, is godsdamned addicting. So you know what to blame if that rant isn't coming. (Actually, blame university.)

Looking for a source for an alternative avatar, I dug through various dressup game sites. Yeah, I know, I know... anyways, I found an "Elven Prince Dressup". Obviously influenced by the Hobbit movie.

So I got a DVD of the first half of the first season of MacGyver recently, and we watched "Target MacGyver"...

...and all I could think after that trick with the pine cones was,
Holy sheet, Gandalf was channeling MacGyver!

I know there are a quite a few book purists who can't stand the movie of the book - especially with LotR, I think, or they're just shouting louder than the rest.
Now, I absolutely love the books, there are times when I read them over and over, and only put them aside to read the Silmarillion or the Unfinished Tales, but I don't think you have to ( Read more... )

I really really wanted to write this before it was old news, but then I got Skyrim for Christmas...
So here it is, my Great Big Belated Hobbit Rant. Well, fragments of it. You see, I made notes. Then someone decided those notes looked like trash. Goodbye Hobbit rant.

Before I looked up the link to the Death by Cow page, I thought the whole being killed by cows thing was a bit ridiculous. The closest I ever got to being near a cow was a milk-the-latex-glove contest at a theme park, so I didn't think anything short of genetically modified ultra-aggressive super soldier cows would attack people.

So I wrote this great big rant yesterday, and then I went and played the game again, and found more stuff to talk about.

As I said, I recently played the new Lego LotR game. And, well, I found out I had a couple of things to say about it.

I got the new LEGO LotR game on Friday, and I've played through the story already (well, almost, there's a trail of studs that looks like it'll lead me to the Shire...), so I'll be posting a rant about the game here soon...ish.
