So this is Lockdown Day 40

May 02, 2020 16:22

I've just been pottering about in the garden digging up more of our ever present weeds. We have a particularly persistent one which I think is green alkanet that springs up every year in all sorts of tricky places and every year I dig masses of it up. The problem is that it is impossible to eradicate as it grows wild in the alleyway behind our ( Read more... )

I have to say it was delicious. I halved the recipe as there was a lot of it but we still had some left over so we finished it today and it reheated very well too. It was just lucky that we had all the ingredients and I know that BBC Good Food recipes always use too much liquid so I reduced that and then it was just a matter of throwing it all in the pan and letting it do its thing :)

I thought the Museums in Quarantine was good but disappointing that there were only 3. There are lots of chances to do art tours - I just don’t seem to have the time at the moment!

No me neither. I keep making mental notes of things I want to see online but I don't seem to get round to it.

I thought it was a pity it was such a short series. They could have devoted a whole week to the British Museum on its own but I suppose it was a matter of manpower with only one person doing the actual filming.

We have wild garlic here and it's the same...impossible to eradicate. This year, we finally put a barrier cloth on our garden beds that we will need to cut open where we want to plant anything. But it was just getting to be way too difficult to weed the beds every spring. The wild garlic dies when the heat hits, but who wants beds full of weeds until then? As for the lawn, it's still green, so we deal. :-)

Yes, we've thought of putting some kind of barrier down but the bees do like the flowering weeds at a time when there isn't much else out. At the moment I don't mind pulling them up so much as it's good exercise and there is a lot less of it this year than last but it is a constant problem.
