A trip down memory lane

I went to the Museum of London today with my friend T on a hunt for something we both remembered very fondly. You would have to be British and of a certain age to share our glee when we found it so I'll put the rest behind a cut, but first of all I will say that before finding anything in the Museum of London you need to find the Museum of London ( Read more... )

I don't remember The Woodentops at all. My first TV memories are Andy Pandy and the Flowerpot Men. Were those contemporaneous with the Woodentops?

Yup. In my day, which was probably a little earlier than yours "Andy Pandy" was on Tuesday, "Bill and Ben" on Wednesday and "The Woodentops" on Friday. My actual favourite was "Rag, Tag and Bobtail" but that didn't run for so long.

I do remember the names, but not the programs. Tales of the Riverbank was my favourite.

That was my brother's favourite too, but by the time that came on I'd started school so no more "Watch With Mother" (or grandmother in my case as mum was at work) for me.

Yes, so did we! I thought you might remember him too *g*.

I'm not quite sure what connection Spotty Dog actually had with London but quite small children seemed to be nearly as excited to see him as we were!

Yes, it was. T and I worked together for years so it's always nice to catch up.

Many hugs back :)

You're the second person on my flist who enjoyed Sherlock. It would be nice if it made it's way across the Pond.

There are two more episodes so I hope it lives up to its promise. Perhaps you'll get it on BBC America.

The Woodentops and Pogles Wood were my favourites - I can see Spotty Dog's straight legs going up and down right now. Glad you had a good day out with your friend.

Quite a few people have enjoyed Sherlock - that's good to know as I liked the look of it from the trailers and am glad I remembered to Sky+ it before we went away for the weekend. Now to make sure we actually watch it. :D

We enjoyed it so much we're thinking of watching it again.

I tried to find a clip of that but there didn't seem to be one, though it was quite difficult to disentangle the TV series from the pop group!
