I remain good friends with several people I met via the H/Cameron fandom. Some of us stay in touch through our LJs, but I can hardly bear to go back to the comm. I've had moments (when I'm ovulating and super-horny) where I've written little H/Cam stories lately. I haven't been watching the show or even old episodes, but once in a rare while, the ship sweats out of my pores and I have to write.
The letters, and worse, the Twitter campaigns (I hate Twitter) are infantile and, like you, I want to be far, far away from all of that.
Who do you miss? I know where a lot of people are if you want to be in touch. Which reminds me of something, but I'll email you about it. Maybe you should start an exclusive comm for the old h/cam peeps.
Have you read Columbine? I just got it out of the library.
A part of me misses the fanart. House and Cameron were really beautiful together so I miss the creative aspect. But I really don't miss any part of the fandom.
I hate twitter, too!
I'd rather not say who I miss because I wouldn't want to alienate people. I miss the fun we all used to have in general in the beginning.
i haven't read much lately. I've been so busy that reading isn't a high priority.
I hardly read any anymore even though I still belong to the community. But i usually just skim past the entries on my friends list because you're right, it's not the same anymore. The letters are ridiculous. Why try to save something that's already gone. Even if they did bring Cameron back for the purpose of romantics with House, hello, it would just be retarded and make things so much worse. Do people not remember X Files? The UST is so much better than when the characters actually get together. It can be lovely in fits and starts but it's never the same and it never makes the show better. Just remember the desire and be thankful you had that love of that fandom in your life while it lasted. There will always be true fans that really appreciated the ship and there will always be lunatics who cling to a crush on that ship and don't know when to let go. At least you know quality when you read it. :)
I actually don't agree that the UST is better. UST is great for a couple of years but then it just becomes ridiculously frustrating. house and cameron are a perfect example
( ... )
A lot of people felt X Files lost it's "umph" a lot earlier. I disagree. The show certainly evolved but I still liked it for a long time.
I guess it's dependent on what you watched the show for. I mean, to be honest, the appeal of X-Files for me was never the stories. Sure there were some fabulous stories here and there but it was the relationship between M&S that had me completely obsessed! so when that fell off when Mulder was 'abducted', i pretty much stopped watching. Up until that point I enjoyed most of the stories and could tolerate the ones I didn't like because of the MS interaction, if nothing else. I watched a few episodes after Requiem and really liked both Doggett and... believe it or not... Monica. I actually liked them both. But it just wasn't the same without M&S. I found that the stories which I somewhat liked before had devolved into real silliness (the butt genie, anyone?) by the last 2 seasons.
and that just wasn't the show we knew and loved. :( exactly.
Yeah, the ending of the Cameron House thing was just
( ... )
Meh, I have to say I agree with some of the things you said. I kinda went off the LJ map half way into season 4 for personal reasons (it honestly had nothing to do with the show) and now I'm back. Like you, I haven't seen any episodes past about the middle of season 4. I have seasons 4 and 5 on DVD and I'm just now to the point where I want to actually watch them
( ... )
I wish i had the stomach you have because i can't stand watching house with someone other than cameron. although, i think it's more my dislike of cuddy. i once had a conversation with a friend about who i could see house with if cameron never existed and i could love him with someone like rene russo's character in lethal weapon or helen hunt in almost anything. i think i wouldn't mind seeing him in a relationship with someone that's NOT Lisa/Cuddy. I just hate the entire way it went down, you know
( ... )
Well, I didn't say I like seeing House and Cuddy together, but I am glad we still get to watch Hugh doing what he does best. But you're right, things just won't ever be the same on the show again. Or here at LJ for that matter. It's good to see you pop in though!

Ha. We emailed at length about this, didn't we? "Casting" Hugh with actresses we felt would work with him, since both of us were convinced that Cuddy was made of fail. I still think Hugh is hot, but for me it was always about Hugh as House, and House in the context of Cameron. Kate, you would not BELIEVE how poorly written and produced the show is now -- and has been for the past three years. I'm mildly surprised that Hugh stays with the show, because the plots are recycled, the characters never change or grow or develop, and it's writers are as infantile as House himself. I adore Maybebaby and her writing, but I couldn't watch the show the way it has been thrown together. Maybebaby is right that there is acting talent on the show. But it's wasted, tragically.
Then there's my favorite part... the letter writing campaigns.
I'm totally with you on this...lame, lame, lame, and WHY do people still suggest it?
But the fandom totally rocked it. Something like 10 years later now and the fic they post is probably better now than when the show originally aired. And we have more fun in general. The Oz fandom rocks. I've never come across any drama in my experience, it's all one big happy cellblock imo! :D

Because they're lame.
They're lameness knows no bounds or logic. I'm convinced these are the same people who write songfics. I mean... the really dramatic ones. To songs by bands like Lifehouse or Savage Garden. These are SO the same people.

I think the OZ fandom just doesn't take it all so seriously. They can create some of the most beautiful fics and sexier stuff because they aren't wrapped up so much in their own heads and how much they 'hated' something. I mean, Tom Fontana lost his damned mind in season 6 and I'm sure people were frustrated and bitched and moaned about it but it didn't make us hate each other. Some fandoms go fucking batshit crazy like it's real life or something.
We have fun with our boys. I mean, we have dolls for christ's sake. Dirty, dirty dolls.... ; )
I left House MD when JMO left on last autumn, I can say that House MD is the worst fandom I know... I can understand some of your thoughts on "today" Hameron fans but maybe you're too rude. No shippers have suffered more than a HCam one because we believed in promises and don't reach anything more than a superb kiss that ended it all instead of starting something new. HCam fans miss you, miss the original fandom, the golden age of this project. I personally missed a lot waking up and running to downloading your clips T_T I really enjoyed that part T_T
My interests are always a lot as much tv-shows are but with Aleki we take care of what House MD left to us: the incredible JMO! Come to visit us at http://jmolove.forumfree.it/ ;)
