Meet the Settlers /
Week One /
Week Two /
Week Three Charles:
Guy adored his little man, and couldn’t believe his toddler years had flown by so fast.
It seemed in no time at all their son Augustus was celebrating his birthday and preparing to start school.
Their daughter too celebrated her birthday. Bronwyn, unlike her parents, grew into a studious young woman, although like her mother also sought pleasure in her life.
Also like her mother, she began transforming into a werewolf at night.
Whilst mother and daughter loved each other, Bronwyn had always been ‘Daddy’s Little Girl’. Both being afflicted with lycanthropy brought the two women closer together, especially as they had all night to bond.
Unfortunately, being a werewolf didn’t prevent the two of them suffering from the flu epidemic that was ravaging the town.
Charles was still working hard in the politics career which often meant he fell in bed early most nights exhausted. While Amy enjoyed the chance to sit down with her children at dinner and hear about their school day, she knew her children missed having time with their father.
Despite not being as people orientated as her parents, Bronwyn still found herself making new friends, including Merlin who she shared her first kiss with.
Once again it was time for birthdays, this time for Guy and Amy. Not much changed with them being elders; Guy continued to work towards his life’s dream of becoming Mayor, the only difference being that he was now sporting a rather large bald patch.
Amy was as active and playful as ever.
Raising a family on a single income had meant the Charles family had never really had enough to improve their property, but that changed when they were gifted with a magic lamp.
There were a few grumbles when the family’s new lavish beach property was completed but Charles wasn’t concerned; the money for their new home hadn’t come from the town’s funds. Additionally, he argued that replacing the shacks they were currently living in sent a message to visitors and investors that Newhaven was more than a university experiment.
Brandon:
Just as they had hoped, Gwen fell pregnant quickly. Both Luke and his wife were ecstatic at the news they were going to be parents.
While Luke continued to make his way up the Education career ladder, Gwen found herself settling into her new home. She and Darcy made quick friends, both being new to Newhaven. While it wasn’t exactly a thriving metropolis, they were both surprised it had started with a few political science students continuing a class conversation over beer.
Luke and Gwen didn’t escape the flu epidemic either, but found themselves feeling better after Luke made up a batch of his grandmother’s comfort soup. They were keen to share what they felt was a miracle cure, but they found their neighbours were doubtful.
Gwen delivered not one, but two blonde haired baby boys with their father’s skin. The happy couple named their new sons Castor and Pollux.
Luke helped as much as he could when he was home, but most of the infants’ care fell to Gwen.
After the twins celebrated their birthday, she hoped that they would be a little easier to care for.
She was wrong.
But then at other times they could be complete angels. They seemed to save this behaviour for when their father was home.
Although she loved her children dearly, she was honest that caring for the twins was utterly exhausting. Gwen often found herself trying to get some sleep at any moment possible, knowing the opportunities were few and far in between, and unlikely to last long.
Luke had his birthday, and although he had had to wait a long time for his life to be filled with the family he had always wanted, he wouldn’t have changed a thing.
Having been successful in his career, the family had managed to save a substantial amount of money, and like their neighbours, decided to build themselves a proper house.
Baruch:
Skylar could hardly believe her little girls were now so grown up. She almost didn’t want them to leave for school on their first day, although she blamed it on the flu epidemic and concern for their health.
She was also on hyper alert mode as they had had the unfortunate title of being the first family in Newhaven to be burgled. Skylar and Nicholas at least took some satisfaction that they hadn’t even had a television for the intruder to steal.
Ziva made her feelings on the burglary very well known, but then again, she always made her feelings well known.
Despite Rina being much nicer than her twin, Ziva’s very outgoing personality meant she seemed to make friends more easily than her sister.
Aaron too celebrated his birthday, and like his parents, developed a thirst for knowledge. His father, who after the flu epidemic had taken a position in the medical career, was overjoyed by this and spoke enthusiastically to his son of what careers he could take up to help better the community.
Aaron didn’t have the heart to tell him that what he really wanted to do was to design video games like Dion, Leo and Clyde.
Deciding he could put off any decisions regarding his career until after school, he chose to focus on spending time with his girlfriend Opal instead.
All too soon it was time to invite over their family and friends for a double birthday to celebrate Skylar and Nicholas’s birthdays.
Skylar might have thought all the noisemakers and clapping were unnecessary, but it was a lovely time and she was looking forward to enjoying her golden years.
Chang:
Life in the Chang household was busy as usual with birthdays...
...family bonding...
...making money...
...making friends...
...making friends...
... and being in love.
Jin and Lillian weren’t the only ones in love. Xun had begun seeing Gretchen Ngai, a woman he met whilst working in the family’s store, and when she fell pregnant the couple got engaged. They brought a small block of land across the road and built themselves a modest home as with four adults, three teenagers and baby on the way, the Chang house was getting a little crowded.
It was strange not having Xun and Gretchen around, especially as the girls had all grown up with their fun loving uncle.
They didn’t know that soon, and due to heartbreaking circumstances, he would once again be living with them.

A lone palm, struck by lightning, caught ablaze and soon spread, taking the lives of Jiayi and Lillian Chang.
Jiayi Chang was a sweet natured girl who never caused an ounce of trouble even as a toddler. As the youngest daughter of Jin and Lillian Chang, she had only recently had her birthday and as such only achieved one notable title, which was sadly as the first to die in Newhaven.
Lillian Chang was one of the original students who had discussed the idea of Newhaven in class and then later in the campus pub. She and her husband opened the first business in Newhaven, and were in the process of opening a second. Lillian leaves behind her husband Jin, and two remaining children Lin and Mei.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Understandably the whole family was shocked and greatly saddened by the loss of Lillian and Jiayi, but Jin, so close to his birthday, struggled to contemplate having to spend his elder years without his wife by his side.
He ended up breaking down entirely.
The rest of the family rallied together and pushed for the local cemetery to be completed. Here they built a special temple dedicated to their mother and sister, a temple that would be the final resting place for members of their family.
Xun and his pregnant wife moved back in with his brother’s family.
Not feeling at all celebratory, Xun and Jin had their birthdays without any fanfare. Jin’s mood did gradually seem to improve, but he never again had the exuberance he had had when Lillian had been alive.
Knowing Lin’s life’s dream was to become a celebrity chef, Jin and his late wife had been building a restaurant for their daughter to hone her craft.
Knowing Lillian wouldn’t have approved of the restaurant not opening, the family opened Chang’s Chinese Cafe to moderate success.
Eventually, after what seemed to be a very long pregnancy, Gretchen gave birth to a son they named Xiang meaning “to soar”. They hoped the new baby would help the family soar above the grief and back to happier times.
Ngai:
The newly engaged couple had built themselves a modest but contemporary two bedroom home within short distance of their old home and the rest of their family. When Lillian and Jiyayi unexpectedly died, the couple moved back to give emotional support and help out running the family businesses.
They considered themselves very lucky that they were able to find a buyer for their house. Apparently the buyer was looking for a building with a basement in an isolated area, and their house fit the description exactly.
Maxwell-Spencer:
As Darcy had hoped, she was pregnant and not suffering another illness.
She had an easy pregnancy, no doubt in part to the three men who made sure she didn’t have to lift a finger the whole time, and delivered a baby girl who was named Coco.
Coco had everyone in the household, especially the men, wrapped around her tiny finger.
She was equally adorable as a toddler, and her outgoingness seemed to make up for her grouchiness (4/8/9/4/1).
Dion and Leonard knew they were never going to have children of their own and absolutely doted upon Coco. Kendal was worried her daughter was likely to get spoiled by all the attention that her father and ‘uncles’ lavished on her, but said father and ‘uncles’ wouldn’t hear a word of it.
Career wise, Dion completed his life’s dream of becoming a Game Designer, one day before Leonard did. Clyde too was working his way up the ranks and was himself not far off reaching the top of the gaming career.
This meant the household, which was struggling for room with the addition of Coco, could afford to build a new home. It never even occurred to them to split up, they well and truly considered themselves family.
So while Kendal and Coco had the house to themselves during the day, they both looked forward to their men returning from work.
And after Coco had gone to bed, the four adults happily coexisted; either spending time together, or doing their own thing.
Soon it was time for the three men to celebrate their birthdays, although Leonard believed the other two made him go first on purpose.
Becoming elders changed little in the house, they were still loving fathers...
...adoring uncles...
...and devoted couples.
