BaCC: Newhaven - Meet the Settlers

The concept of Newhaven began at University when the question was asked, what does a community need for it to prosper? Five political science students continued the conversation after class at the campus pub and decided what a community needed most was diversity. Several jugs of beer later and they all felt that they, along with their loved ones, could create their own settlement that would one day be a thriving and successful city.
With the confidence that comes with good looks and wealth, Guy has always believed he can do anything he sets his mind too. Although occasionally bordering on arrogance, this confidence, along with his natural charisma, made him an obvious choice to lead the expedition.

Lillian, one of the students from Guy’s class, and her husband Jin, met at ballet class when they were just children. Inseparable ever since, despite Jin’s family’s disapproval, they married as soon as they were old enough and worked to put themselves through university. Although they know their degrees are effectively worthless in their new home, they still believe there are numerous and exciting opportunities to make their fortune.
Jin and his brother Xun couldn’t be more different from each other, but after their parents died, Xun reluctantly agreed to his follow his brother to Newhaven. Living on the beach couldn’t be all that bad, could it?

Leonard Maxwell was the oldest son of a wealthy family who considered themselves very socially forward until it was their son who told them he was gay. Thinking back to his fellow students plan for a diverse community, he asked his boyfriend Dion to marry him and join him in Newhaven. Dion Spencer, thinking he was going to be kept on the side forever, was so ecstatic at Leonard’s proposal he didn’t even think about how far from civilisation they would really be.
Dion’s friend Clyde could trace his family tree back to a Witch Doctor in Twikkii Island and was proud of his magical heritage. He decided to join his newly married friend and hoped Newhaven would be the culturally diverse place Leonard promised it would be.

Being outgoing and making friends helped Luke overcome the stigma of being half-alien growing up, but what he wants most of all is a family of his own.
