For the amusement of many (read: myself) I've uploaded a very useful primer on how to catch an Emma in the wild. This handy picspam includes native habitat and common behaviors, so check it out!

"You make me feel warm all over.... says Dad... as Mom types. "She make me laugh ... I love her the way I love you" (as he kisses my neck ... as I type.

Trine.... we love this .... Dad says "Emma is the ultimate female cat curmudgeon.. She is to the cat kingdom what the old fart male is to human kind. She just doesn't give a crap.... whatever Emma wants, Emma gets... she might as well be a wife."

Awwww. I love the decorations and the pics of the aloof-ish Emma. I know like 4 people who would pay you some serious coin for that Darth Vader ornament.

I actually have a screen attached to my front door, so I can't put up a wreath on the outside either. I hope to do some Christmas decoration shopping this weekend. It'll be the first time since moving to LA that I've decorated for a holiday.

Christmas is the only holiday I really decorate for, and I think it's because decorating for Christmas is such a big deal at home. Obviously we have the tree, but also all the assorted house garlands, the outside lights, random statues and stuffed animals and pillows, not to mention the Christmas Village we used to set up every year.

We're blatant Christmas consumers. Slap a reindeer on something and I immediately want to buy it :)

My sister would mug you for that snowman. We made a couple dozen glittery styrofoam snowmen ornaments to hand out to people this year, so we're all about the men this year. teehee

He's awesome. I have this secret feeling that those aren't just earmuffs he's wearing. I think he has them connected to his ipod and he's rocking out on the inside. :)

You guys should learn to needle felt - it's ridiculous amounts of fun. The problem is it requires more innate artistic creativity than I posses. So I can make something like a snowman, but when you get into things like delicate flowers or flames (don't ask, I've tried) the artistic vision I have in my head never makes it onto the felt. Plus it's ridiculously hard to needle felt with a cat. Emma loves wool batting like it's kitty crack, and she'll chew on it if I leave it unattended.

your parents are cute and hilarious. hi reinierses! how do you pluralize your name?

we have a wreath on the door. actually, it's a "swag". that's the only christmas thing we have up so far. maybe david can do some lights tomorrow. we won't be buying a tree for a little bit. i like to prolong the season and feel rushed when it comes too early. your snowman is cute. how can emma not get to your tree? pippin would shimmy up that in a heartbeat. if she had an interest in christmas trees. :) fortunately for us she doesn't. she just likes to bat around the lower ornaments.

I tried postponing my Christmas stuff last year - I didn't put up my tree or start listening to Christmas music until around Dec. 15th or something, but it didn't work for me :) I'm not the type to go on Christmas overload, but I like a liberal sprinkling of it from Thanksgiving to New Years ( ... )

See, I like the December 15th idea. David thinks I'm insane. And to me, you are on Christmas overload! :) We have the wreath and will put up a small tree and lights. Stockings somewhere...maybe one or two other decorations. And that's it. I feel overwhelmed and cluttered when there's a lot of stuff around me. I even feel that way now, with the few regular house stuff I have. Except I have a hard time parting with things, so they all stay. Yuck. :)

I totally remember her. In fact, the other day at the library I was thinking of re-reading those books. They only had the second one, though, and I wanted to read in order. That's terrible! I'm glad she's doing ok. It'd be interesting to see what she puts out now, after the trauma.

I think I permanently estranged myself from the "cool kids" with my Fun to Eat, No Need to Heat cafeteria dance. :) It does seem forever ago. In fact, it was 13 years ago. Man!

What do you mean, estranged? Didn't you hear - The Backstreet Boys recorded a cover of that back in '99! I mean, they're not N*Sync, but hey, they're still cool kids in my book!

Catnapping cat is napping like a cat. You weren't kiddin, she's a chubby kitty!

I dig the fuzzy snowman. It's like he got caught in a statc cling mishap.

Ehh..chubby, well-loved, what's the difference? :) Hehe. I've got her on a strict diet, so I'm hoping I'll see some change in the next year or so.

I was going to un-fuzzify the snowman, but it involved getting the whole guy wet and using soap to agitate the wool fibers, and it just seemed like he might not survive the process. So it just adds to his overall "Too Cool For School" 'tude.

God, don't unfuzzify him! He looks awesome that way. That's what really gives him his charm. How long does he take to make? I'd like to think of commissioning one of him from you...

Umm...a few episodes of "Dead Like Me." :) I measure craft time in television episodes.

I actually want to make another one myself, but I don't have any more white wool - I literally used all of it for him. If I get some more I'll let you know! (And I've got to figure out a better way to make his nose...it's not sturdy enough yet)
