The first two episodes are a bit slow moving, not my favorites, no. But you didn't even like 1x04 Kush? That episode made me fall in love with the series. And then Nubbins was pretty fantastic in that crack-y sort of way. There's some AMAZING episodes coming up, including 1x09 Requiem which contains some of the best acting I've ever seen in television history, so please stick with it! :)
Kush was the first episode that to me, didn't appear to be entirely shot on green-screen by a low-budget special effects company, granted, but the foley artists needed to scale back the wind noise which overpowered the entire episode. Also, I didn't buy the 'small things' the beast was able to pick up on after showing a propensity to accurately recreate not only images of loved ones from memory, but also accurate mannerisms.
I will continue to watch it, but at this point nothing is making up for the lack of inspiration I feel being exuded from each episode.
Perhaps I'll change my mind once I reach Requiem which will likely be today or tomorrow?
Oh, yes :) Almost everyone who pic!spams this ep focuses on the Chair Scene and other similarly in-your-face exchanges (which are quite wonderful in their own right), but moments like this deserve to be highlighted, too. After all, he will always be her Cheeky Monkey...
Even before I started accepting the idea of them as a couple down the road, moments like this had me wanting to inflict group hugs on them :)
Re: upthread discussion - The Five was the episode that pulled me in. I'm a sucker for overarching mythology involving secret organizations. And I already loved Magnus so having her be the ringleader was icing on the cake. I just love watching Magnus be awesome while all these guys basically drool at her feet.

I know. Is it not inspirational to see that level of hot-bitch-in-charge badassitude in such a serene and gentle creature? (Well, okay, so she does a passable imitation of "serene" and "gentle" when the mood takes her, lol.) She was right in Requiem: not so common...
The Five was a great ep. The first half of the season had some really good eps, but it really took off from The Five forward :)
Glad you enjoyed the pic!spam. That first pic of Will wasn't the one I originally had for "I'm a spaz and you love that about me" (the first one was just him shrugging), but the hand-gestures and the look on his face in that one were completely irresistable to me :)

And adorable! Will is adorable! I know I shouldn't talk like that, it sounds condescending- 'coz he's *consults IMDB* 32? Jeez!- but he's so young compared to my usual crop of favorite male characters. He's probably the youngest, which is- kinda weird, now that I think about it. Ummm.
But oh, that second last cap! I just want to squish her so hard!
Btw? *whines* I just finished season 1 of Sanctuary. *WAILS* THE WITHDRAWAL IS KILLING MEEEEE.
*sniffles* I hate short seasons. I know, I know, people keep going on about how it apparently guarantees better quality than a season that's twice as long but that's rubbish. Mentalist and Criminal Minds have seasons with twenty-plus eps and they're all fantastic, so the 'lengthy season = fail' excuse is shot down.
You've really corrupted me. I was watching that scene between Watson and Druitt, drinking together and lightly snarking at each other with Will watching on like an eager little fanboy, and all I can feel are the vibes. LOLWHUT?
Not adorable (Robin Dunne is adorable. Will Zimmerman is "adorkable" lol)
Don't you just love that smile of hers in that pic? Seriously, if you flip back and forth between her trying not to smile and her giving in to it, she doesn't move a muscle except on her face. So perfect... And you know she spends a lot of time trying not to smile and encourage the cheeky little monkey (who totally doesn't need encouraging, lol). I just adore those two together in just about any permutation. It's all so sweet and loving and moving even without any shipping thrown into the mix (although hinting at a possible future ship is a nice bonus for me. but some things would have to change first.
I think the reason you see shorter seasons in a lot of sci fi shows is budgetary. More special effects and smaller audiences than mainstream shows on network television. ALthough that is finally starting to change
