I just found out I'm likely not getting the room I wanted for my (informal) recital next month. The room they reserved for me instead had a terrible piano, last I heard, and the room itself doesn't sound nearly as vibrant. Excellent lesson!! Really, wonderful lesson. The new bocal has made a world of difference. I never realized before how hard I was working and how diminished my returns were by the make/form/material of my bocal(s). It's wonderful to know that though there is still work to be done, I can be legitimately happy with my own playing.

I am having a terrible week. Extraordinarily busy and stressful and last night, I had a horrible, demoralizing rehearsal. The performance is Sunday and it is a really big deal. I have a gig next week that I'm really excited about. We're doing a ton of music as a benefit for a local underprivileged middle school in downtown Tucson. There's a dinner and $75 tickets and a little pickup orchestra playing Peter & the Wolf and the Princess and the Frog rewritten by the composer himself for woodwind quintet.
