I'll pick up where we left the last time. In the early morning (from around 8 AM)
vc_mel and I first visited the Fushimi Inari near Kyoto and from there we took the train to Uji.
Getting there took less than 30 min, but we had planned to visit Nara after Uji AND be back in Kyoto by 4 PM. Which means: not enough time for Uji by far...
(
90 minutes in Uji )

The deer run around free in the city of Nara and tourists can feed them with the official deer nutrition bisquits for sale everywhere. Deer know by now that when tourists go to such a booth, they'll return with the bisquits, thus you have a crowd of deer around you, as soon as you take a step away from the booth. One deer was a bit too determined to let me know she wanted to get one of the bisquits and bit me in the hip...

The deer in Miyajima are just as bad. No biscuits for them, so they pester everyone. My friend had some cookies in a paper bag she was carrying, and a deer took a big bite out of the bag! Well,better than her hip...

Never enough time for the pretty things ^^;;;
Are you back home already or still abroad?
I think I was lucky then in Miyajima, because a) I hardly got to see any and b) those that I saw where so NOT interested in me. Though it was February when I went there years ago, maybe they are quite sleepy then?
Though your story fits all those I've heard about Japanese deer before... I wonder when they'll start attacking the omiyage bags -.-;;;
