Gah. Where's the Sam-love, kids?

You know, I'm totally wanting to write fic where Jack is this horribly out-of-character psychopath who is doing Our Sam wrong (i.e. conking her on the head, tossing her in the back of his car, and hauling her off to the Deserted Warehouse O' LUV to have his evil way with her)and it's a good, noble, and improbably heroic Pete who has to step in, ( Read more... )

"I'm gonna get you," Pete growled as he started unbuttoning his shirt.

"Pete!" Sam said, her brilliant blue eyes wide as she curled up against the pillows, pulling the sheet up to her neck.

Pete paused and smiled, a feral look in his eyes. "God, you are so bad at this, Sam."

Her eyes just got bigger. "Oh, don't hurt me." It was too late. He pounced.

Just as he did, the door swung open violently, banging against the wall and causing a couple of frames to drop to the floor. Pete went flying, hitting the wall and landing in a heap on the floor.

"Take that, you son of a bitch," said the newcomer.

Sam's eyes were open in shock now, and, if anything, she pulled the sheet farther up--especially as the intruder's eyes were raking over the skin she *was* showing possessively.

"It's okay, Sam, I'm--" he said

"What in the hell are you doing, sir?" she asked coldly.

Jack blinked. "Rescuing you from Pete?"

"From my fiance?" Are you nuts ( ... )

I do now! *grins*

Also, it's bad when I'm giggling at my own fic, isn't it?

Why not giggle? This is a riot.

Actually, I've seen a lot of fic recently from one particular author where Jack is a 'horribly out of character psychopath' (though the author just calls it being an 'alpha-male' WTF?) and spends his time abducting and sexually assaulting Sam. Of course, she ends up loving it and wants to breed with him and produce dozens of little urchins as soon as possible. She can over look him forcing himself on her because he has the biggest penis she's ever even imagined. Sam is 'quaintly' out of character as well, both constantly terrified and aroused by the big man-beast that is Jack O'Neill and prancing around constantly in pink and in 5 inch heels (I hope there are some platforms on those shoes 'cause feet just don't bend that way).

I wish Pete could saved me from masochistic tendencies to read really bad fic if only to see how bad OOC it can possibly get.

Seriously where do people get this crap?

Sadly, it's probably why I never latched onto Jack/Sam as a pairing. Trout's little fic above aside, it's not even a guilty pleasure for me ( ... )

I can't even see her sticking around for such a stupid display of male ego.

Word.

Also, I don't see what's so great about an "Alpha" male if they treat you like dirt. Hello! I, too, have a functioning brain here!

And yes, I always assumed that both Pete and Sam just moved on from their breakup. It didn't need a lot of drama and stuff.

Also agreed.

You know, in the bad old days when I was on the forums, I frequently found myself *defending* Sam's little attraction to Jack. A lot. Yes, me ( ... )

So what you're saying, is that you're pessimistic about the future of Sam/Jack but can totally see it?

I'm a little weirded out by the Sam/Daniel early stuff, not because I mind Sam/Daniel, but because he HAD A WIFE. (Mind you, if they'd actually gone with Sam/Daniel, I probably wouldn't have minded it because, oh, they would have talked about that issue (assuming the writers thought about Sha're at all) and it could have been gloriously angsty.)

I think this is why I've moved away from Sam/Jack fic since the end of the show. I think they actually did a good job of teasing the canon even after RDA's departure. But the longer these characters are off our screen the more exaggerated characterizations seem to become. There are some well written stories out there, even post-Pete, but there are plenty of authors I just can NOT read.

See, I'm still all for Sam/Jack and I really like that TPTB have chosen to let a lot of the relationship take place off-screen.

But I hate fics that villianize Pete so deeply that he's written like an almost cartoonishly-evil supervillian. And there's never a realistic explanation for his behavior. It's just basically "Sam realizes her TWU WUV for Jack, Pete gets wind of it, Pete goes crazy, Jack has to administer the smackdown to end all smackdowns, Sam and Jack go have Healing and Conventional Sex."

I mean, would it kill you kids to tack on some plotline involving mind control, alien viruses, even the classic "taken over by a Gou'ald" scenario?

Despite some of the story deficiencies of Threads, I still really love the scene where Sam breaks up with Pete because it's lovely and sad and very true to the characters. Sam is bewildered and awkward and hates like hell that she's having to hurt this genuinely sweet and kind guy and Pete is just genuinely hurt and grieving (for god's sake, the man was crying!), but still cares about her ( ... )

You know...I should just scrap it and write fic where Sam and Vala get disgusted with all the guys around them, get a van, and drive from place to place, solving mysteries and fighting crime together.

And, oh hell, we should totally throw Lizzie, Teyla, and Janet in there too.

I would SO VERY MUCH LOVE to see you write that. God. That's, like, my dream AU right there.

Um...but I really think daisycm83's gonna be annoyed if don't finish Stitches first.

I'm totally not trying to find an excuse not to write that fic. Really!
