"Now This Is What I Imagined California To Be Like..."
That's what my friend from Hawaii told me when he took his first look at Santa Monica Pier. As I mentioned previously, he was stuck in Los Angeles for a day and a half with no car and a Motel 6 adventure awaiting him before flying back home. So being his only local contact, I ended up as his half-catatonic driver and travel partner for a day. Having already visited Venice Beach, Hollywood, the La Brea Tar Pits, Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, UCLA and Westwood, we concluded the afternoon by stopping by Santa Monica to check out the pier and the ocean.
In addition to showing the dude the carnival area (Pacific Park), we got a good look at the fishing spots (surprisingly, he went bonkers over the public fish cleaning stations that he mentioned were not available in his state... he apparently loves to fish), the beach and the famous Pacific Coast Highway. I could tell you more but I would much rather catch some shut-eye for the moment.
