T asked me when I'm getting my 4th COVID shot. I told him I'm still waiting for an optimal time or for a new variant to break through. Best I can tell right now, three shots plus Omicron is still good against the latest subvariants ( Read more... )

I've been thinking about the topic "4th shot" too.
I think, currently it's only advised for people older than 70 and for people with extreme immune damages (like organ transplant), plus all people which it's a requirement for in their occupation (mostly health care workers and such).

So, at the moment, I've decided to go for it if all the other people from my daily surroundings get their offers through e. g. like company doctor again. - Because, then, you can say, the situation is overall regarded as "serious enough" again so that all people need a 2nd update shot..

I've always had my doubts about masks making the significant breakthrough difference. And, as far as I'm familiar with quotas, I feel like I was right ( ... )

Here they're advising a 4th shot for 50+, but from all the reputable information I've seen, actual COVID is the equivalent of one shot as far as your immunity is concerned. So three shots plus Omicron is equivalent to four shots. So, I'm already there. But I'll get another shot at some point this year, maybe around the time I get my annual flu shot, before the Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year period.

As for masks, I'm currently wearing them on mass transit or while shopping - when I'm inside around crowds of strangers - but that's it.

I also am careful to wash my hands thoroughly before eating or before touching my face - standard precaution.

That status I'm on too. 3 shots plus caught Omicron once (if there hadn't been one more time too).
So, that's why I also don't rush it, as long as it's not advised.

Masks are required in certain places here still. Not many, but some still, so I can't really choose on my own...
When doing grocery shopping, I don't have to wear one, so I also don't wear any when doing that. - I've had to plague myself long enough with the continuous itching in my face while my nervers are all oversensitive in and on my head...
So, as long as there is nothing forcing me to do that, I'll skip it.

But keeping my distance to gatherings of humans, that's something I still do and try to avoid.

(All else will be a question of what circumstances look like in autmumn and what will be required then...)
