Perfect.
Yet in retrospect, Nagato finds himself questioning this stage of the plan. His aim was to improve upon Deidara's handiwork: send the enemy fleeing into terror and confusion.
If their pawn was successful in his attempt to assassinate the Hokage, then this will work perfectly, but Nagato has not felt any trust in Madara's puppet -- in his loyalties or his abilities.
And thus they may well be walking into a trap. ]
Sasori, we will need to be on guard here.
I have my misgivings. If anyone of any power should try to engage us -- if the Hokage has survived, and if he attempts it -- I will return us to Madara.
Remember, we are here to disrupt the village and find scrolls.
We are not here to conclude the final strike of the war.
As a puppet-master, you will understand that finesse is important, and timing is everything.

I agree that we should be cautious. However, I'm confident that we'll prevail.
[He smirks.]
Timing is indeed, everything. And I believe that this is our time to see our goals met, and to see our enemies finally crushed.
We have each brought nations to their knees on our own. I'm certain that no one can stand against the both of us combined.
However, if it really proves prudent to retreat...well, we will both do what we must, I imagine.

I suppose I should have taken all the paths, but it's too late for that now.
One way or another, we will win, now or later. They cannot hope to defeat our united strength.

But then, it really is that as well.
Sasori stares down the brat and the unfamiliar Konoha ninja accompanying her.
He'll need to be cautious. If she has any sense at all, she'll be far better prepared to face him this time.
But then, he has more of an awareness of what she's capable of than the last time as well. He won't make the mistake of underestimating her this time.
She'll likely have antidotes prepared. Although, he did anticipate that, and isn't completely unprepared himself.
Sasori also makes note of Sakura's summoned companion. A slug? It looks like she's learned a few tricks since their last battle as well.
It's her associate that's the unknown quantity, and Sasori will need to assess what this unfamiliar Konoha shinobi is capable of quickly.]

This battle, he thinks, is the last stand against them, the Akatsuki who crave revenge for the actions of people not here. It lacks logic, to him, but what else is to be expected?
He signals. ]
Byakugan!
[ And is greeted by the macabre curtain of human shells. Not wooden, like the usual puppets he's seen. Bones reside beneath the mummified skin. He swallows. Blue chakra flares hot, brief in a circular pattern around his feet. ]
Sakura, these puppets were people.

Yes.
[Black sand--iron sand--and a face that might have been exotic and handsome, maybe, if it hadn't been frozen in a mockery of human life. The Sandaime Kazekage's expression never changed throughout their fight--didn't grimace in pain or smirk in triumph. He never felt and his eyes never saw, and when she'd punched through his chest there was no flesh, no muscle, no bone. Just dead dry cracking, like old firewood, and just as lifeless.]
They're not alive any more.
[It's a harsh and callous thing to say, but Neji must understand this. Sympathy will only ensure that the two of them will become as dry as those husks.]
