[And Sasori briefly breaks into a real smile, before turning contemplative.]
You recall what you told me that day, don't you?
That you'd carve out a world where those like me are free to express ourselves, free to pursue our own goals, free from the shackles of a system that bound us in lifelong servitude to our villages.
That you had sacrificed your body for your own grand vision, as I had sacrificed mine.
I chose to follow you then, because I respected your goals, and you respected mine. And in this, we understood one another.
[He pauses for a moment.]
But now, I think that it's not simply that freedom to pursue my own goals which keeps me here, or keeps any of the others here anymore.
Over the years, your goals have also become mine. Not just because they are grand and noble goals, but because you accepted me, as you accepted the others, without judgment, and you sought to understand us, rather than condemn us.
Because you created this organization that gave us freedom to express ourselves, and also gave us something greater than ourselves that we could choose to strive for.
You are willing to sacrifice, and have, for the sake of your goals, and this organization.
All of us are ready and willing to do the same, Leader-sama. Our victory is assured, because all of us will do whatever it takes to see your goals achieved.
Our goals.
[He isn't as certain about the others, but he is surprised to find he is certain about himself in this. The things he has experienced since he came to this world, and his time spent speaking with Leader more often have, perhaps, merely accelerated something that has been building ever since he first donned his red and black cloak.
It's been a long time since Sasori has felt this way about something outside of himself. Not since he was a child, and listening to grand words, delivered by a great man, before a bonfire on the eve of battle.]
