[Sai and Naruto were waiting on the outskirts of Mizusato for Kakashi and Iruka to arrive. He was within an eighth of an inch of losing his temper and punching the energetic blond beside him. He was still recovering and moving too quickly only managed to cause pain for him.

SO they waited, standing in the road and Sai barely being able to keep a hold on his sanity before he reached out and trips Naruto, knocking him flat on his ass for a comment about him being a gimp.]

Be quiet. They'll be here soon.

I don't have to be quiet!

[Naruto crosses his arms and glares at the ground, mumbling curses and calling Sai every name he can think of. He thought only Sasuke could be so annoying. But Sai comes really close. he's too calm all the time and he doesn't show his emotions. And then there's his fake smile. But he joined Team Kakashi and decided to help us so he can't be bad. He isn't bad. He's just annoying!]

Stupid Sai.

You make a terrible ninja, between wearing hunter orange and making exclamations all the time.

[Sai doesn't spare Naruto a second glance, spending his time instead focused on sensing for the other duos approach or anything else that was trying to sneak up on them.]

Only thing worse would be to dress in red and paint a giant circle on your back over your vital organs.

They're certainly taking their time in getting here.

It's almost like a page out of war, where things are muted and gray, and all sharp like cutting lines over skin, a two dimensional picture, an illustration ( ... )

[ Kakashi lets Iruka take the lead, falling behind him in step as they approach. It is easier this way. Easier to let Iruka handle the small talk, the smiling, the shit that doesn't really matter anyway. They need to escape from here, and this is all Kakashi's mind is centered upon -- this singular goal of getting them out of this strange place and back home -- if there even is a home to which they can still return. Though the girl, Rin, had assured him that there is a version of their selves that remain back home, even if they are here, she could not say whether their being here somehow weakens that self; if the fact of their presence somehow leeches power ( ... )
