Summary: Kakashi and Iruka rendezvous with Naruto and Sai for the first time in Kannagara.
[ It's shocking, really.
Sai had said that physics worked differently in this world, but Kakashi hadn't taken that to mean that the shortening of travel time would close the distance so quickly over so much terrain. It had been freezing in Raisato, breath freezing the air in small clouds. But here in Mizusato, the air is humid and warm, long after the sun had disappeared under the horizon.
At Iruka's insistence, Kakashi had taken the time to clean up a little, washing the blood out of his hair and cleaning up as much of it as he could from his battered uniform -- certainly not an easy task, as some of the stains had already set in. Summoning Pakkun had not been much help, either -- it seemed that though Kakashi could summon the pug, Pakkun was unable to bring him items, such as a brand new uniform. So, Kakashi had to settle for just doing what he could. Which really wasn't much.
He's a little glad that they had chosen to meet on a stretch of deserted beach on the edge of the island. The darkness of night shrouds the shadows and smudges that couldn't be washed out. Though Naruto is hardly fragile by any means, Kakashi certainly doesn't want to potentially traumatize his student. (And it is strange, thinking that Naruto even can be traumatized. Kakashi has to remind himself that this Naruto is not yet the Naruto who single-handedly defeated Pain and helped to turn the tides in a war that has claimed over fifty-thousand lives.)
He heads to the pre-destined rendezvous point with Iruka.
