"Well, we met..." Juudai says, since "knew" is sort of a strong word. Although it's interesting, since Gau was the second person he ever met in person in Kannagara, and the first to actually give him helpful information.

"So, are you here to buy anything?" he adds, noting that Gau appears quite unsupervised for his current age.

Gau completely ignores the distinction over how well the guy knows them. After all, this person is now in the category of long lost friend. The excited eight year old grins up at him.

"Mmhmm! Raikou-san told me that I could have cake! And I think I'm going to buy some honey tarts too... did you know I own this bakery?"

Double-take! "You own this bakery? Like, not as a local?" That's impressive. The people of Mizusato are generally friendly, in Juudai's experience, but he's had his share of distrust and glances. "That's amazing! I wish I knew before; I'd have come here more often." Mental note right now: go to this bakery from now on.

Oh right, Juudai's here to get food, too. "I'm just here to get some bread and things," he adds.

"Uh huh. I don't think Raikou-san wanted to tell me, but the locals did! I worked really hard to open it, so..!"

Gau smiles happily, waves to 'his employees', and then leans up on the counter to ask for his cake, simply cutting in front of Juudai as if the man hadn't been in line. Which he hadn't, really, standing in the door... right? Or so said Gau's childish mind.

"I wanna get big again so I can go back to work!"

Whoops. Guess Juudai should have moved faster. (That's okay, though, it's not like he's in a massive hurry to get anywhere right now.) He puts in his bread order after Gau asks for his cake, catching a couple amused glances for making the mistake of letting the kid talk his way to the front of the line.

"That's the first time I've ever heard a kid want to grow up and go to work," he laughs. "I guess it's different if you know you're usually older anyway, though."

Man, that cake looks good. Maybe Juudai should get one next time. Is it close to anyone's birthday? Hard to tell, in Kannagara...
