And so you experience one of the less pleasant aspects of this device: the broadcasting of dreams. It's one thing to watch another's dream but quite another to have people see your dream.

So you were infused with a piece of his soul. At least, so you were told.

[Four seriously does not want to talk to you right now.]

He made us. All nine of us. He died a while ago though.

[Can't you just feel the irritation radiating from the text? No? Well Four needs to learn how to communicate irritation better.]

Death claims all organic things eventually.

Yes it does.

[He sits down and pulls the blanket over his lap. Anger isn't a very productive emotion, so he attempts to calm down.]

It isn't natural when it claims everything at once.

You like fairy tales, huh?

[Better to stick with an innocuous question than get into people one's lost again.]

That kind of thing was, like, all I read when I was a kid.

[Four settles down and picks up the Hitomi. The dream has left him shaky and very unsettled, however he seems to be alright on the whole.]

Fairy tales are wonderful.

So full of imagination.

My favorites are the ones with the Princesses.

I liked the Twelve Dancing Princesses.

What were your favorite stories?

The Narnia books. I dunno if you had those anymore, where you come from.

In them, these kids find another world by going into a wardrobe. And they end up kings and queens in it.

I used to sit in this one cupboard where I grew up, man, just wishing I could push through the mothballs and old clothes and find a whole different place.

Narnia books?

I've never heard of them.

They are fictional?

It took me a while to learn the differences between a fictional book and a nonfictional book.

Tell me more about it.

[Miharu doesn't like death.

It makes his skin crawl, a little, to see the dead body of a small child. It just makes him remember too many things that are connected to fear. He hasn't really fully managed to get used to the world of Nabari, to the idea of killing being... "normal". And he's not sure he ever will.

Not that he wants to, either.]

What happened? To the girl?

[Four doesn't particularly like talking about the subject either, but he isn't one to withhold information.]

She did not appear to be injured, so I am sure that the gas killed her. People tried to escape the gas by hiding in cars or going underground.

I looked for her story, but it was hard to find. Her name could have been Janet, or Alice, or Sophie. Anything about her must have been burned or buried where I couldn't get it. I hope it was a nice story.

[Long pause.]

Un, so do I.

[A little girl never deserves to die.

He has no idea what exactly this gas was supposed to be, but if it killed people like this... Wonder what kind of world Four comes from...]

I'm sure I'll find it someday though. I'll keep searching until I find it.

People have left so many things behind that I know it's out there.
