[Yes, these people come from a war as well. And it's the kind of war where people kill other people on a daily basis, is it not? Kanda knows it's a little bit more difficult, but in the end you get your ideals roughened either way. Orders are still orders, after all

[ When the voice cuts through the night, as clear and crisp as the glint of a blade sliding through the dark, Kakashi jolts up with a kunai in hand before realizing that the voice came from the communications device lying near his futon. He reaches over and picks up the device, looking down at it and pressing the play button to replay the video

[That sounds simple enough.]

[Whether or not it sounds like the truth is another question whatsoever, but he can at least be somewhat understanding of that sentiment. As it is though, he's just going to tactlessly continue staring down the screen.]

[It sounds more like a statement, but it's really a question... somewhat. Kanda is both a little ticked off by someone lazing off on orders and relieved that there are people who cherish life regardless of war-ridden environment at the same time. It's a little weird, so he doesn't think too much on it.]

[Sai remembered what it was like to think of death as a child. The idea of the people he killed, silently and efficiently. They were bad people, people who deserved to fall down and sleep forever. To never wake up. He believed he was doing what was right, what Danzo had told him, Danzo had been everything as a leader and as close as the young man had anything to consider as a parental figure. He had never had parents, he had long assumed after the nine-tailed fox that he had been an orphan and had Danzo to thank for taking and training him instead of leaving a child to an uncertain fate

Anyone would show concern over seeing a child go through such things that even adults could not comprehend. I would assume you could handle a b-rank jutsu to your face, but I commend the smile it is a good one.

[Sai did not believe that Kakashi was at all happy about having others see into his mind in such a way, in his subconscious of all things. There was a small part of Sai that had always found solace in the fact that his mind was his own, no others could enter there and see or feel what he had been exposed to. But here it was different and it seemed none were safe, even in their dreams from being forced to understand others and see their strife and anguish. It unsettled Sai and he wasn't sure how to change such feelings.]

[ The last thing Kakashi needs is for his subordinates to be worrying about him, when they have enough to deal with as it is. And when Sai has his own issues to sort out, as well. Figuring out yourself is a hard enough task as it is -- having to figure out someone else when you don't even really understand yourself is even more difficult. ]

[There is muted horror on Iruka's face that he tries to remember to swallow down the screams that wants to claw its way out of his throat and grief that comes with it. He is not like Kakashi, who has it down to an art, he is unable to keep the slight pinched noise from rising to his throat and with it the bile and the taste of rancid acid. But like how everyone is forced to master silence, Iruka clamps a hand firmly over his mouth, ducks his gaze away from the Hitomi that trembles in his grip and remembers that he shouldn't behave this way, he shouldn't show weakness when those around him are already being torn open and having their wounds exposed.

But he was just a boy! He's just a little boy!When a man earns a throne for himself, it is always glorious. It is well renowned across the lands, people fear him and his title and the weight of that throne. Not a lot would try to start war with this 'king' but there are also others who are foolish enough - out of fear - to try and fight the occupant of this throne

[ The look on Iruka's face is a little too much

[Just that I don't think you should sound like that, speak like that. I don't think it's nothing, I don't think it's fair that you are exposed like this. What you choose to tell the world, when you choose to pull your mask down, it's a choice you should make. I'm sorry that I saw, and I'm sorry everyone else too. You didn't want this. Why would you?]

[Iruka's face irons itself and he gives Kakashi a bit of a smile. But it's pinched around the corners because he's not sorry for the blood on Kakashi's hands, he's not sorry for Kakashi's rock like facade, that this is how he's evolved, how he's grown to be.

He can't be sorry.

(How can you be completely sorry for something that you're a part of, too? That this is the kind of thing you teach your kids? Kakashi was a child too. He was taught the same thing.)

Except Iruka is.

It isn't for the grown man who looks at him impassively through the small screen. But for the little boy who carries too many scars from the inside, with too small hands that Iruka can see clearly

[Naruto sits up suddenly, flushed and sweating, blue eyes wide and vision blurred. It doesn't matter. Because he can't see past the images in his head. The nightmare that isn't his. The sensation of slick body parts slipping through his fingers. The head that rolls. Again and again. And it feels as if the bed and the floor and the ground below is trying to suck him in and bury him alive

[Naruto squeezes the Hitomi, resists the urge to throw it, to try and break it again and again. But he knows from experience that the Hitomi is unbreakable. Unlike a person. People break. They break to pieces and their heads come off their shoulders and children try to hold them together with their bare hands
