Oz really wanted to believe it and cling to that small hope, that maybe if people looked at it like that, they wouldn't think he was a horrible person. "You think people might not think i'm so bad... if everything else is considered with this?"
"Ah... well.. that is true. I know someone like that. He's not the most understanding person and he's a bit brash"
After that, Oz couldn't help but smile a little. It was slight but it did help. Memories did seem to help when they weren't the painful ones. Just talking like this was helping in it's own way, slowly starting to brighten his mood step by slow step.
With his smile brightening, he nodded and pushed any of the negative things on his mind away so he didn't dwell any on them. Slipping back into that negative, down mood was something he wanted to avoid if he was able to.
"Thank you. I mean... for helping me like that~."
Referring to both saving him from being dragged into the darkness and that talk they'd just had, brightening his mood from what it had been from the start of this.
Nodding to that once more, he paused before an idea hit him.
"You know... the way you handled all of this so easily.. I bet you do this kinda thing all the time~" At this, Oz flashed a smile, clasping his hands behind his back as he watched the other man.
He was merely making a guess of all things, not really knowing if it was the truth or not.
Harry wasn't totally sure how to answer that. If he said yes, it would make him sound like a babysitter, which he definitely wasn't. Of course, he did do similar things a lot at home.
"Uh... what part of "this kind of thing" are we talking about exactly?"
The End of Jack's speechcan_you_eat_itSeptember 9 2011, 13:22:06 UTC
Alice couldn't help it - the sound of that almost familiar voice drew her into the room more than anything and yet, even now...
Why can't I see his face?
That face, she just wanted to see it, really see it, because the sound of his voice... it was very gentle and warm. It conjured up so many emotions: Joy, hope, wonderment, safety, a deep resonating sense of love and yet those feelings were as if muted.
Still.
Filtered through the hazy shade of barely there memories and for a moment, when her hand started to reach out, she wasn't sure which man she was reaching for. But the heart knows, doesn't it?
Where it belongs.
Which is why a faint scowl touches her face, despite the lingering wonder there at the oddly familiar presence of Jack's soul, and her own gloved fingertips wrap firmly around Oz's wrist to pull him away.
He was hers! Jack wasn't allowed to take her Oz any more than Oz was allowed to take her chain powers anymore. That's the reason she tugs him towards her, her nose bumping against his collar with the unintentional
( ... )
Only as arms moved to withdraw from around him did he find himself pulled forwards and a smaller, warm body against his. Smaller, feminine arms were wrapped around him now in a unhesitating hug and making his green eyes widen for just a minute.
Yes... Alice was still here.
Choosing to say those words.
It made him smile softly as a soft laugh escaped his lips, allowing him to be able to forget Jack's presence who watched them with a kind smile before dissipating. Leaving them alone together in the entirely too empty room in such a warm, friendly embrace.
"I... Even with everything's that's happened... you can still say that so easily, Alice? Here... I thought you were mad with me for using your power without your permission.." It was slight, but Oz couldn't help but make light of the situation in his own way as he let his arms come around to hug her back. "You'll be at my side until the end, right?"
"Why do you have to say it like that? Like everything's about to end?"
The faint sound of her sniffing could be heard as she shakes her head just a bit, stubbornly refuses to look up at him. One hand fisted in the fine material at his back as the other pulled back - and punched him not so lightly in the belly.
"And of course I'm mad at you for that! Those are my powers and you're my servant - you can't just take them whenever you want, without my permission. But... I'm afraid, Oz. If you keep it up... I'm not ready for an 'end' because... because I've put off looking for my memories to help you, so there is no end until you've helped me find the rest, okay?"
With how far things had moved with the seal... he really had started to think that at times it was about to end. Not that he admitted that to anyone else but to some it was more obvious without words even being spoken.
Words that had formed on his lips in an attempt to try and say something to her were stopped in an instance as that small hand punched him in the stomach, making him hiss in pain and cringe softly. It snapped him a bit out of his train of thoughts before, closing his eyes as he listened to her words, his expression becoming a touch somber as a wry smile curled his lips.
"I promise. We'll find the rest of your memories before that end comes." A beat followed Oz's words as his eyes finally opened, the slight pain from his stomach starting to subside. "I won't use your power again unless you tell me I can. Using it the last few times hasn't ended well so i'll be much more careful with it."
Emerald hues widened a touch at her honest words as well as the look she'd given him right then. She'd always seen through him when he put up those instinctual defensive walls so he could hide what he felt from the world around him and now was no different
( ... )
Her smile then is small yet real, because there'd been so much hurts lately, so much loss bonds and loss of focus, yet this - the reminder of this simplex bond that ties them together - is enough that she can step back and nod at the boy. There's a trust, an unshakable faith in him reflected in her gaze before she smirks all to confidently.
And then she reaches out to catch his wrist to pull him towards the door. "Alright! Then lets step forward again, Oz. Even if time here tries to make us stand still, lets step forward and grasp what we want with both hands, okay?"

Some people would just prefer to chop off your head first and ask later. You know. Little things like that gave you a hint into what someone thought.

Helping kids and women out was like a conditioned response for Harry. He didn't even really need to think about it.
"Glad you're feeling better."
