[Warnings: Mass amount of angst and mentions of chara deaths as well as slight spoilers to recent PH canon ^^;;]

The world was bright.

Sun shone in through clear windows.

Yet it was Oz who stood there alone with fingertips brushing against the glass and staring out into a beautiful, endless scenery filled with brightly colored flowers, lush trees and a plethora of forest life beyond as a smile curled his lips lightly. Yes… this was different, wasn’t it?

All of it.

Lowering his hand from the cool glass, he closed his eyes and exhaled a soft breath. It was peaceful and the sun was shining and bright on a day like today. Maybe it’d be good to go out and go for a walk? “Oz!! Come on~!” A feminine voice called for him, stopping him short before he looked over to the source of the voice, only to find the face of the girl who’d spoken; beautiful, kind with honest emotions as her deep brown-black hair framed her petite face. Her smile always had a way of lighting up the room and he felt more than alive with her around.

More figures stood behind her in the room but only a few of them stood out.

All familiar faces.

One with dark hair and gold-colored eyes that stood out from the darkness. Another whom was shorter with lighter, short hair and piercing blue eyes, a boy with unkempt, messy hair and glasses that obscured his eyes. Two more stood behind them but were further away while still being recognizable. A flash of white hair and a red eye and a demure young woman dressed in an elegant dress with light colored eyes and an enchanting smile.

Yes. His friends.

Oz stepped forwards to follow them as they made to leave the room but long, winding arms wrapped around his body with a hand raising to obscure his eyes. A body pressed behind him and he could feel the material of soft silk belonging to the gloves and the tickle of a frilled sleeve brushing against his skin as a familiar voice sounded in his ear. “Oz. You must be careful. Keep on this path and you’re going to hurt them. Please. Don’t hurt Alice or anyone else. I’ve left her and Gilbert to you but you keep pushing forwards in the wrong direction. I don’t want you to lose any more friends than you already have. Remember your conviction. Don’t lose them like I have lost mine. Protect them.”

Eyes widened and a cold feeling settled in the pit of Oz’s stomach as he made to pull away from that warm embrace, turning to face the owner of the voice and only catching the hint of a soft smile and soft golden strands before he turned his gaze over to the door. Once again he was alone in the room, making him shake his head before he brushed off his clothes and started forwards, the noise of his footsteps being the only sound within the empty space he was in.

He didn’t understand what that man had meant.

There was no way he was going to lose them.

Shaking his head, Oz placed his hand on the doorknob and opened the door so he could follow his friends. Instead, what met him was a rush of cold, bone-chilling wind, causing him to bring up his arms to defend from it with eyes closing. It lasted only a few seconds before it stopped, though Oz hesitated to lower his arms from their spot, that chilling cold seeping into his skin through the material of his shirt about the time when he recognized that acrid scent that hung in the air around him. Copper-y and threatening to fill his lungs with it’s suffocating scent, making him cringe and hesitate before he lowered his arm.
Before him was the precise point where the revolting smell was coming from.

Made his chest tighten while legs froze up in place instantly.

Lying on the ground just a few feet from him was one of those familiar faces from before. His body was smattered with blood heavily in a lot of places, darkening a once formal outfit and the formerly gold Nightray crest on his chest. Blood matted his light-colored hair and spread out on the ground beneath his body while skin seemed paler than usual on the now unmoving body. That’s right… he’d been a partial cause to this incident, hadn’t he.

All because he hadn’t been able to stop himself.

He should have stopped when she’d wanted him to.

It wasn’t… like he could go back to fix it.

What happened then.

No. He refused to accept it like this. How could he?

Hands raised to touch at his face but stopped when he felt a heavy weight in his hands, eyes turning down to find a large, blood-red scythe in his grasp, the edge of the scythe’s blade dripping with something that dripped onto his face, dotting his face with crimson that rolled down his cheeks. This was blood but… from where? Reluctantly, Oz tilted his head up and found the face of something inhuman looking down at him; watching him with it’s massive red eyes while it’s mouth dripped with blood from two rows of sharp, edged teeth as it bat it’s large wings to stay in the air above him.

Sitting atop the giant beast - or rather, chain - was someone else that he could barely catch sight of but recognizable to him from where he stood. A flash of a cruel smirk and the fleeting vision of eyes now cold, dark and angry with gold lights reflected in their surface as a single word left those lips.

”Judgement”

Footsteps raced up behind him but he couldn’t even move. To look at them or face them at all.

Then they stopped and there was a definitive sickening thump behind him that finally allowed him to turn to look. The sight before him was worse than the one had been before. More of those familiar faces lie on the ground now, covered grotesquely in bloody wounds. The one closest to him was the girl from before, her long, lovely hair darkened with crimson as a hand reaching out toward him, fingers still twitching with life but eyes slowly growing dark. He heard her name leave his lips as he ran forwards, almost reaching her before chains sprung out from the earth and wrapped around his body and started to pull him down…

[Oz jolted awake with eyes wide and cold sweat dripping along his face. His skin was pale and his body shook lightly, not even noticing that the Hitomi had recorded his entire nightmare as he was just trying to recover from it and trying to regain composure.

This wasn’t the first time he’d had a nightmare but this was the first time it’d ever really been this bad.
Hopefully he could just… get over it and that would be that. He hated dwelling too much on them but after that… what could he do?]
