[The Hitomi lies somewhere to the side where Miharu is sitting back on his heels on the ground, a sake bottle in his hand and a small bowl in front of him. And behind that bowl, there is a snake-like creature - people knowledgeable of Kannagara's creatures would recognise it as a tsuchinoko - that is dipping down to drink from the bowl ( Read more... )

[Just ignore Yoite over here watching from several paces behind you. Just doing his Yoite thing. Watching you. Always.

[Always.

He glances back at Yoite as the tsuchinoko returns its attention to the sake.]

You don't want to talk with it, Yoite?

[Do you expect him to want to?

Yoite just stares for a moment then simply shakes his head.

He's fine with just, you know, watching.]

[Well, no.

Then, excuse him while he goes back to conversing with the snake-thing. Pleasant creature.]

Oh! Hey! What is that thing?

[Here, have a rather excited Alice holding the Hitomi close, violet eyes wide and curious.]

Animals don't talk, but if it is an animal despite the talking can you still eat it? It looks like meat!

[Eat it? That's... an interesting thing to ask about this kind of creature. A lot of people would probably be unsure about eating it.

At least, as far as he's concerned.]

I don't think it would like you to eat it.

...Your point?

[She's just going to blink for a moment.]

I'm sure cows and pigs and chickens don't like to be eaten either but we have to eat, right?

...I suppose.

But I'm not sure they have as much awareness as this.

[Since it seems all intelligent.]

[Kids. You take your eyes off of them for a minute, and the next thing you know, they're befriending talking snake-things that look like they've got a large animal stuck in their throats. Yukimi can't believe it. Actually, he can...this is just the sort of off the wall and reckless thing he should expect from Miharu. He snaps the video on with a frustrated groan.]

Hey...don't you know you're not supposed to talk to strangers? [And that includes strange talking animals that look like they could be freaking poisonous.]

[Oh hi there, Yukimi. He was expecting you.]

But how else are you supposed to meet anyone if you don't talk to strangers?

[Duh. That kind of idea is just weird.]

You don't meet snakes. [Just because a slithery reptile talks, it doesn't mean you can be best friends with them.]

And hey, you're a kid. You don't need to meet anyone, anyway. [Unless they go to school with you, are family friends or otherwise approved as non-threatening people by the parental units or a substitute thereof. And he thinks with a brief frown that maybe he's the stand-in for said substitute, in the absence of Miharu's grandmother...]

I just did. And I don't think they're actually snakes.

[Hmmm. He taps his bottom lip, tilts his head at Yukimi. Now that is just stupid.]

But what if I get lonely?

[Not that he would, when he has Yoite, but still.]
