[The Hitomi lies somewhere to the side where Miharu is sitting back on his heels on the ground, a sake bottle in his hand and a small bowl in front of him. And behind that bowl, there is a snake-like creature - people knowledgeable of Kannagara's creatures would recognise it as a tsuchinoko - that is dipping down to drink from the bowl ( Read more... )

Oh! Hey! What is that thing?

[Here, have a rather excited Alice holding the Hitomi close, violet eyes wide and curious.]

Animals don't talk, but if it is an animal despite the talking can you still eat it? It looks like meat!

[Eat it? That's... an interesting thing to ask about this kind of creature. A lot of people would probably be unsure about eating it.

At least, as far as he's concerned.]

I don't think it would like you to eat it.

...Your point?

[She's just going to blink for a moment.]

I'm sure cows and pigs and chickens don't like to be eaten either but we have to eat, right?

...I suppose.

But I'm not sure they have as much awareness as this.

[Since it seems all intelligent.]

They're aware of being alive, right?

[She shrugs.]

And then they're not. What's the difference?

It's a different awareness. They don't feel it the same way as creatures with our intelligence do.

[Simple fact.]

How do you know? Have you ever asked them? Or even looked in their eyes to see?

...I bet you're wrong.

It's simply fact.

At least, from what I've learned.

[It's not like he thinks so much about it. Meh.]

Oh.

[Her expression falls a bit before she finally shrugs and waves a hand.]

Either way, that thing still looks like it'd be tasty.

[This girl is a little weirdly amusing.]

Do you really think so?

Well... it looks like a ramen noodle, only it’s an animal so it’s made of meat. So that makes it a kind of... meat noodle, right? We could make Raven cook it to find out!

[Meat... noodle?]

Find your own, then. That one is my friend.

[She blinks at that, then cants her head to the side, honestly curious.]

You'd call it a friend, even if it's not human? That really doesn't bother you?

...I don't know!

[Here, have a rather exasperated look.]

That's why I was asking you!

[Why did she ask it in the first place... Where did it come from?]

I have a cat at home that is my friend. I don't think you have to be human to be friends with a human.
