[So that's the way of it then? So many different ways to break them down, tear them apart.

And for what?

To make them act? To keep them from interfering effectively?

He doesn't know - can't even fathom to guess - yet... this is Lavi. So he doesn't judge the questioning or condemn it, because to Raikou...it's a valid question.

Besides]

He's not on the Hitomi any more so...it's possible. I've never seen someone take more than three days to return, even from death.

[Lavi shakes his head and grimaces lightly.]

Well... It took a week when Allen.. died. [By your blade.] But I think there was more to that then. And we were sure he was coming back.

It was a different situation.

[Raikou has a thought, and it's not an entirely good one, really, which means he's switching voer to private now, to protect the secrets shared between them - despite that death by his blade.]

You know...the number of people from your world seem to be declining steadily. None of those Noah people most of you have warned about even on the Hitomi anymore so...

[A slight pause as he frowns.]

Do you think the disappearances here could be related to what you remember happening in your world, when you came back?

[Well. That is a point, but...

He's not so sure.]

How would they know what's happening back in my world t'decide to follow that pattern?

[The gods, that is, obviously.]

[It hasn't passed by unnoticed. Rin has seen the lack of Allen's icon on her Hitomi. So really, she should've been braced for this. It's only the truth given words and name.

And yet, it comes with a bit of a pang, and it saddens her. Even if she hasn't been all that great to begin with, but it's been an impassive sort of thing: these days, she is carrying with her a sort of dull melancholy. It takes the edge of most things, at least a little.

Still, it seems she'll always find herself capable of new, strong emotion, springing forth from where it's been resting deep within.

It's with noticeable sadness that she speaks -- though she tries, really tries, to keep it out.]

Hmm, I haven't seen him on the Hitomi. Not his name with which to contact him.

[And then another, darker possibility dawns on her her.]

Though perhaps -- perhaps his Hitomi has been taken from him.

Can it even be taken? Considering how it repairs itself and can't be left behind, I dunno why anyone would be able t'take it from ya, if the gods really want us to have it so badly.

Hmm... yeah, you're right.

[Another heavy pause.]

You don't think he got...

What? Killed? Think he just got sent home.

What?

[ Allen had been determined to do something to stop the execution of an innocent man - it was the right thing to do, but could it have something to do with his disappearance? ]

... What do you mean, Lavi?

[ "Not coming back"? After four days? Lavi must be saying it for a reason and it sounds like he's keeping track, but of what? Briefly, Doug pictures ink on parchment. ]

The regular time for those who have been killed to come back is usually three days; if you get sent home, however, it can vary from one day to weeks, to months. Can't know for sure when Allen died, if he has died, but it's been over three days so it might be best to expect that he won't be back for a while, if at all.

[ It's strange to hear Lavi talk like this. His matter-of-factness now seems different from everything Doug has seen of him so far. But he and Allen are friends, aren't they, so the possibility of not seeing Allen again... Is Lavi distancing himself from it? ]

I see... Then he's all right?

[Oh yes, he is. Probably not fully aware of it, though.]

Think so.

[Gilbert never really spoke with "Allen" much, but he seemed like a rather nice, helpul young man, so, well, it would be a shame, except... It's not really a bad thing when someone disappears from here, is it? But... he's not going to be a hypocrite; it would still hurt. Plenty.]

[He looks a little unsure as he responds.]

...He's... a friend of yours, right? Are you sure he wasn't just... kidnapped or something?

Everyone who were kidnapped seems to have still had their Hitomis, it's not like we can get rid of them anyway, so if it was just that he would have contacted someone by now. He's either been sent home, or he's dead, which is much less likely since it's been four days and the normal time it takes to revive is three.

Yeah, we were friends.

[This is... a little different from the Lavi he knows, and it makes him feel a little intimidated. So many words about such a matter, all spoken... coldly, almost. It's unsettling.]

Oh, I-I'm sorry.

[Maybe it wasn't the best idea to ask. He must be upset, right? He should try to cheer the teen up, yeah, but -- he rarely does that and he kind of fails at it, ugh, what to do. Um. Well. He can try, at least.]

Well, I... suppose going home is a good thing...
