Questions re: BOSTON (in BALTIMORE, not Boston)

Feb 18, 2010 08:31

I have to finalize basics very soon.  So here's your last chance for input before I make everything official - and post it on x-t and NASPA:

Please reply, and thanks in advance:
  • 90% certain that it'll be 20 games, beginning either Friday late afternoon or night.  Which is better for you, more games Friday ( afternoon start) or more on Saturday?
  • June 4 ( Read more... )

fri vs. sat games: doesn't matter to me

june 4th or 11th or 18th: no preference

class prizes: don't care because it doesn't apply to me, although I suspect if I was still rated 1400 or 1500 I would like to see class prizes

3K vs 4K: doesn't matter... if it was me I would do 3K so I could give more money to other people

on-site meal: doesn't matter, although if not, make sure there's enough time in the schedule for people to go out and get something to eat (but not so much time that they're waiting around for the games to start again after)

coffee: don't care... I don't drink coffee

most I would pay for hotel room: $75 per night per person (double) but hopefully you can do better than that... AC was $99.50 per night per person... Charlotte was $39.50 per night per person

how likely am I to attend: very

entry fee: doesn't matter to me, although I suspect it matters to many

- No preference on more games Friday or more games Saturday.
- No June 11. I really like the Pittsburgh tournament. If possible I want to have my cake and eat it too.
- I don't think I high-five or complain.
- 4K if I win, 3K if someone else wins.
- On-site breakfast might be cool as long as there are biscuits, but I don't think it's important. I don't care about on-site meals or coffee… For some reason, I'm picturing you making boolgogi for 150.
- $150/night. I'm sure that you can get a better deal than that though.
- Highly likely.
- If you're thinking $175, maybe you can even go for $200?

* Early friday. REALLY want to go to Balt/Red Sox baseball Sat night.
* whatever tim says
* i don't mind class prizes as they entice more lower-rated people who then contribute to the overall prize fund *shrug*
* more money for more people.
* i am happy to get food elsewhere. delivery menus would be nice.
* would prefer to procure my own coffee as long as there's a decent place nearby
* i don't think 35 is a hefty commuter fee. $100/double for the whole weekend with 2-3/room is what i like to try to stay near.
* i'll go if the bf does. if not, probably not. unless there is a road trip that i don't want to pass up.
* 150 and 125 sound the same to me. 175 sounds like a lot. there is no rationale to my thinking, sorry. it's just how my brain works.

- I hate Friday night starts
- Any of those dates are fine with me, but as we discussed, the 2nd weekend has some conflicting tournaments in the region
- It would not bother me if token class prizes were awarded in the interest of boosting attendance
- Ask me right before the awards ceremony :)
- Prefer being on my own for meals, assuming there are options reasonably nearby. I'm generally against unnecessary perks that sap the prize fund.
- Let people find their own coffee. Water is fine.
- Hotel: Do your best. $100/night or less per room is ideal, not sure if that is realistic
- Very likely to attend
- Doesn't matter to me. DO is $100, OT $130, CO $100. $125 seems like a number most people are comfortable with. I think what's more important is what lower rated players would pay. A higher EF doesn't equal more prize money if a lot fewer players come. I don't know what the tipping point is, but I'd worry about going above $150.

i want to come! don't have strong preferences about any of the above, though i probably wouldn't eat an on-site meal and am happy to buy my own coffee. i would also do 3k.
