Happy thing - Day 3!

Today's happy thing is something that very frequently makes me happy: reading online tutorials for craft and do-it-yourself projects that I may or may not ever actually get around to trying. As anyone who watches my del.icio.us can attest, I go through mad bookmarking sprees that inundate my list with pages about how to make things out of paper or ( Read more... )

The one with the cans reminded me of elementary school, when we made luminaries out of soup or coffee cans.

Coffee cans are a little more problematic, as the labels are actually printed on them nowadays, but soup cans work nicely, too.

Take the empty can and stuff it with wet newspaper (this acts as a cushion of sorts for the punching tool).

Using a hammer and nail, punch holes in the design of your choice around the can.

When finished, remove the paper (duh).

Place a candle in the can and light said candle.

Oooooohhhh!!!! Pretty!!!!!!

If you use water balloon sized balloons, those string globes would be nice for putting LED tea lights in.
