Ooh I really like Team Goldie. Thanks for the rec, I've just downloaded his EP. I'll make everyone listen to it at our New Years party tomorrow and spread the word further :D

I just looked at his Myspace pic, and I was like, "...Gabe?".

Also, MSI live are fabulous! I touched Jimmy twice, it was awesome! And my theory is that Mikeyway had A Plan for Gerard and Lyn-Z to get together. Because, left on his own, Gerard would just run away from her. So Mikey devised a way for Lyn-Z to see Gerard's inner awesomeness (by locking them in a closet!), and he did all this while still in NJ, in bed with his hotass wife!

I KNOW, RIGHT? Brothers from another mother!

I wish Mikeyway would plan my love life! Or, I wish I could see MSI. Whichever happens first.

I love my Cobras. LOVE THEM. And I want everyone else to love them too but I kind of don't. I want them to be successful. I want them to get played on the radio and on MTV (well, on music networks) but I don't want them to get overexposed. A part of me also worries that they'll change somehow. That they won't be so approachable anymore. I think that's the stupid part of me. There's no way that this bunch of dorks will become douches, right?

Please rec me some MSI songs. I want to get into them but it doesn't seem to be happening. My insane crush on Lyn-Z isn't enough to pull me in.

The best thing about Cobra Starship is that I feel like they were "sell-outs" before they even got any radio play - it's built into their mission statement! They always wanted to play catchy dance-pop, they never wanted hipsters to love them, they always wanted to play to crowds and get on MTV. They don't care if they're a guilty pleasure for you! Basically, the day I feel that Gabe Saporta didn't come here to make me dance tonight is the day I stop being a fan, and I feel safe in that. \o/

Oooh, sure! Okay, so the thing I love most about MSI is that they're hip-hop inflected punk rock. Which, what? This is what I have wanted all my life! It's punk, and yet you can actually DANCE to it! I recommend listening to these songs very loudly while dancing around in your underwear and headbanging, for full appreciation purposes.

Shut Me Up
Faggot
You'll Rebel to Anything (As Long as It's Not Challenging)
Bitches
Big Poppa (Notorious B.I.G. cover)If you're not convinced after those ones, tell me, and I'll see if there's another one ( ... )

Aww! That's kind of adorable. Also, I love that Gabe posted a bulletin talking about this very thing. That band makes me so happy.

Thank you so much for these! I think what initially turned me off was that they had songs titled "Faggot" and "Bitches." But when I think about it, I don't know of many people in this fandom who would accept a band that's homophobic or misogynistic. Plus, why would Gerard be so into them if they were? Oh and hi...I did like the songs. They're definitely not something that I'm used to listening to anymore, but that's okay. I like to switch it up. I've listened to Shut Me Up like ten times already. :D

Is there any meta/are there any articles that you know of talking about the band and why they've chosen to write the things that they do? I'm curious to know if they've had any negative reactions so far.

Oh, hey, no, I totally get that! And I think that the kind of activism MSI does is pretty hard to access for a lot of people in fandom - I've definitely had this conversation before. The thing is that Little Jimmy Urine, the lead singer, is bisexual, and I think other people in the band possibly are as well? Lyn-Z used to be in a lesbian punk Dolly Parton cover band, although I'm not sure how she identifies. Jimmy kisses boys and girls in the audience on their live DVD. Anyway, they skirt the edges of being queercore, and Faggot is a song written from a first-person perspective; Jimmy is the faggot in question. It's just that their brand of activism is a lot more in-your-face and offensive than what most people are comfortable with - they want to make you uneasy, really badly. If you're uncomfortable with what they're saying, that's pretty much their goal ( ... )

I honestly don't understand how GWay pulled that. Maybe Brian hid his wolf t-shirts out of kindness? Maybe Frank told him he had to shower or no more blowjobs?

My favorite thing about Lyn-Z is that probably they had to do none of that. I wouldn't be surprised if Lyn-Z had a wolf shirt or two of her own, or at least a thing for the dorks who love them. And she's almost certainly used to being surrounded by smelly, unwashed guys. I know almost nothing about Jimmy, but I'd honestly be a little shocked if showers were part of his daily routine.

I love Pete Wentz unironically and with all my heart. I know a lot of fangirls are disgusted by the Release The Bats shenanigans, but actually most of the boys I know would find that kind of thing hilarious. I like that he can be both a real boy and the kind of guy who writes clever lyrics about his inner pain and kisses his best friend on stage.

He totally has a boner right after HeyChris fires a paintball at his ass.

Ahaha, that is awesome. I hope that's on YouTube somewhere.

See, this is why I need more Lyn-Z canon! I need to know: is she a Magic: the Gathering fan? Does she have a Lord of the Rings tattoo? WHY WOULD SHE MARRY A GEEK LIKE THAT WHEN SHE IS A BADASS PUNK GODDESS? (I need to know partially so that I can figure out how to find me one of those geek-loving punks for myself. Seeeeriously.) The smelly thing is completely true, ahahaha. She wears the same outfit for every show! Oh my God, someone write me the fic where Lyn-Z and Gerard enable each other into NOT SHOWERING EVER. "Honey, no, don't worry about it! You showered LAST WEEK. I read that people who are too clean get sick more often!!!"

I don't know if it is or not, but if you would like to see RTB, I believe the link is up this page somewhere! :D

Oh gods, did you see that interview with her where the interviewer and Steve are having, like, a burn war and steve is loosing badly? And Lyn keeps making comments like
Interviewer: So how hard is it to live with the tourbus stink?
Kitty&Lyn: You actually get used to it after a while, it's kinda like coming home.
Lyn: you're like (fondly)"Oh, that's steve!"
Steve: *noise of protest* It's not just me!
Lyn: No, actually, it is just him

and later, Jimmy's defending Steve's honor by saying that the interviewer will get hers when she least expects it, like 10 years from now when she's walking down the street no longer in this line of work
Jimmy: He'll be all "yo, remember me?"
Lyn: and she be like "no..."

(so much love for them!)

1- The first time I heard 'And He Gets the Girl,' I wanted to go find Lupe and hug him. It's pretty much a joke pick up song, but the girl POV part feels like it came from a real person. The female POV in rap songs often states that they are more than just good looks, and then does nothing to explain how so. Lupe goes beyond stating that women should be equals, and he shows that he truly believes they are.

2-He totally has a boner right after HeyChris fires a paintball at his ass.

I know! Pete gets a little too much joy out of causing and receiving pain for it to be arousal free.
What I love best about that moment is that Pete took the footage and released it on video. Paint pellets to the ass make him hard, and Pete doesn't care if the world knows. Pete doesn't care if people think he is into water sports (seriously, video of him peeing on three different people?) He even complained that he wasn't allowed to include the footage of Dirty putting his balls in Pete's mouth because it qualified the video as porn3- Have you heard the ( ... )

1. THAT IS IT EXACTLY. I feel like Lupe's feminism is so ORGANIC. Like, he doesn't need to come in and make some statement about 'OH BTW WOMEN ARE GREAT' because he's already showed us that by, like, writing about real, believable women, who belong in the story and weren't just added on randomly. Who happen to be great! What a revolutionary idea. Lupe Fiasco, I approve of everything you choose to be.

2. Ahahahahaha exactly, exactly. Oh PLKW, never ever change.

3. I just, I picture STARS IN HIS EYES. You know he was completely blown away, of course. But of course he didn't do anything about it, because he's not that guy who cheats. All my hearts are for you, Gerard. ♥♥♥
