barely know that's posting on your LJ but .ummmm I'm friends with thehefner?

Kidding aside, I just want to say that this is a great post and you actually bring up something that even I have been pontificating about for a while now. I have issues with using my real name as my username, yet at the same time I have thought of changing it because someone end up connecting the dots. Being online is where I can *really* express myself, the fact that I'm an athiest and a bi-sexual plus it's literally a lifeline and certain times. Yet at the same time I'm also a male and thus born with male privilege and thus I can't fully say that I know where you are coming.

So I just want to say, IA with you and thank you for bringing up this point.

You are welcome. Slott's turned into one of those creators that accuses anyone not using their real name as somehow automatically being wrong and all theses descending from said fans using internet handles are therefore wrong wrong WRONG by dint of not disclosing who we are in real life. He'll start in on accusing us all of sockpuppeting next.

No need to apologize for commenting. Being thehefner's friend isn't exactly a recommendation since he's said some pretty clueless privileged white boy things to me over the years, but you're welcome aboard anyway!

Plus they are becoming the very anon trolls that they accuse us of. It's also sad that people like Slott has become so common that we have to resort to using 'one of those creators'.

Ah just checking. I don't normally comment on someone's blog or LJ unless we had a convo elsewhere in more public spaces. I'm instinctively weary of any and all Batman fans, sadly despite him being my favorite character the fanbase tends to be populated by some of the most entitled folks on this side of the internet. hef so far has given me the least number of reasons to worry. I don't doubt that he might have said some entitled stuff in the past and may end up doing so again but so far I have enjoyed our convos. I sometimes end up thinking it's general knowledge that I am not from the US (writing stlye) and I'm pretty open about where I come from and a reasonable deduction based on the geographical location would be enough to conclude that I am anything but white.

Throughout this entire thing he's been, so far as I can tell, trying to invalidate all of us partially because we're arguing with him on the internet using our handles, not our real names.

He got banned? For reals? From where? I read about one sockpuppeting incident on Scans Daily but did he do it elsewhere?

Oh, Dan, Dan, Dan. This is like the time you went on a huge tirade about internet comic piracy and then someone posted stats on how many comics you've downloaded.

Girl, he got banned from Ars Marginal for trolling. He then kept trying to bypass the ban and RVC Bard had to block his IP address and repeatedly tell him that he was banned and not welcomed.

He then got a bunch of racist white trolls to start flaming the site afterwards.

Is there proof that he deliberately sent trolls of the pinkish white variety to the site? I only ask because Dan's newly nefarious personae - yes, plural - I just can't think of him sinking that low, even after all of this horrible behavior on his part. YES, I'M JUST THAT NAIVE, STILL. I know that as a creator it must be hard to get a virtual beating of your creation but if you can't stand up to it and/or be polite in your dissent (hence Polite Dissent) with fans, then DON'T TALK TO FANS.

But I believe it about the white trolls if you preach.
