Avarice, my friends, is a many splendored thing

I am exhausted today. I've spent the last forty-eight hours running around doing nothing but nice things for other people, and I'm completely tapped out, enervated, stressed, anxious, and just freakin' DONE ( Read more... )

Completely unrelated, but you asked me to keep you abreast: the new issue of Gothic Beauty should be out this week. Combine that with the release of Greasing the Pan, and you should have plenty of reading material between now and the end of the month.

I'll look for Gothic Beauty. And I keep meaning to pimp Greasing the Pan. I'll do that later this week.

As for reading material, I doubt I'll be getting to anything new for another month or so, but your stuff is definitely going on my Must Read list!

Not a problem. I'd send you a copy of the new Gothic Beauty when it comes out (I bought a big stack to sell at Texas Frightmare Weekend), but, erm, well, I don't have your mailing address. Sorry.

Ack, I'm sorry! I'll PM you. After my Adventures with Russian Bots over the last few months, I no longer post my addy publicly on LJ. I'd love to get a copy of the new Gothic Beauty. Thank you so much! Edit: I will of course also buy a few copies because 1) I know one of authors featured in said issue and 2) I fully endorse goth gardening!

nice GL stuff. I love fanart and fanfiction, I have to say. It all has a very sincere quality to it, even if it's not all quality.

I really want to see recruitment posters for the Yellow, Indigo, and Orange Lanterns.

But the best fan-made recruitment posters of the last five years are undoubtedly the ones that were made for Marvel's Annihilation. That stuff was quality.

because they were working with such good stuff to begin with. The Annihilation events and cross-overs were almost all gold, at a time when Civil War and fallout was mostly making people sick and anxious. A bright light in a dark room.

Bright light in a dark room. I like that. Very apt!

Awesome posters.

I am so insanely pumped for Blackest Night. They ran the risk of burning me out, hyping it so early, and so much, but Johns and the other GL people have done a great job of slowly building things up in the books and holding interest, for the most part.

I love the issue being narrated by, I'm assuming, Agent Orange. He's so greedy, he even wants the narrator's job. ;)

And for a group calling themselves the Controllers, they sure don't do a great job at Controlling things. Or maybe too good, and that's why all their projects fall down and go boom.

There's undoubtedly a cautionary tale that could be derived from the Controllers vis a vis micromanagement. I can totally see PMI (the Project Management Institute) offering a webinar: "The Controllers: Micromanaging Into Catastrophe."

They sure don't suffer from scope drift, though.

*hugs a lot*

My luck to you that you can find a good rep to take on WN, Inc.

In the meantime, I shall attempt to think up something to write for you.

It would be very nice to have something written for me. I could use the distraction. Please?

You've got a fair few readers. If you have some requests, post and ye shall receive, I should think.

I always feel weird doing that with anyone that's not lyssie or canadabear. :-) But since both of them are fabulous writers, I'm in good hands. Although jencendiary does owe me a hard NC-17 Millar/Quesada fic.

I'm hoping a perfect image of an Indigo Lantern comes along in the future to make a "MOTHERFUCKERS" icon. Assuming it can even all fit on an icon. Times like this, I really wish I could animate icons.

I also need Orange Lantern icons of the seagulls, Gollum, and Scrooge McDuck. Hell, one icon of all three as OLs. It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine. Mine. Mine.

Man, wasn't that new GL issue totally boss? I was really dreading Phillip Tan's art based on the covers I've seen, plus his work on NEW AVENGERS, but he's really adept at those creepy alien worlds.

Yeah, I'm not crazy fond of Tan on anything remotely cosmic or space opera-ish, but this issue was good.

So, I just observed below that I'm pretty sure that all the Corps but the Sapphires, Sinestro, and Green Lantern will be all nuked and dead by the end of Blackest Night. But wouldn't it be cool if DC had the balls to keep the Blues around? DC and Geoff Johns now have a problem with the Blues, and that is that they're really, really interesting. I want to read stories about each and every one of the Blues. They are suddenly far more interesting to me than your everyday GL (and you know how I love the GLs), and I'm far more interested in learning everything about Saint Walker -- how the hell do you get to be THAT incredibly pure and cool? -- than I am about the Star Sapphires or even HAL at this point ( ... )
