I've waffled over the last day over whether or not I should post this. I decided to put it up to clarify a couple of things that are being said the sequence of events that led to the nuking of
scans_daily. I'm writing this on very little sleep, so bear with me if things aren't crystal clear and if it's terse. My purpose here isn't to exhaustively go over

I think the guy needs to fucking man up. Oh noez a girl fake threatened me on the internets! Ugh. Whatever.
General consensus seems to be that it's surprising SD lasted as long as it did, given the copyrights issues. Nonetheless, Mr. David is the one acting like the school yard bully he is so fond of mentioning, with his dance of getting it taken down.
This is probably one of the best arguments I have ever seen for fourth fucking wall. Fandom is for us. Not them. Period.

Man, you're getting emails now???? Wow this is getting a lot crazier than I thought. :/ I'm sorry you have to deal with that crap. And while I can look back on these comments and say that we did get quite a bit upset and reacted as such to the book, but you have to remember Kali that these kind of reactions happened on scans_daily ALL THE TIME. I mean, I can think of creators off the top of my head -- Land, Liefeld, Bendis, Miller, and now David -- that were frequently hounded and insulted on that comm for their work. It's not like what you said was any different from the norm. I think after getting comfortable enough in a setting -- and this one being our community -- we just say these things without thinking about it because it's pretty average for us to be shooting off our mouths when we're upset. And that's where the difficulties come in. But Land, Liefeld, Bendis, Millar, Austen, etc. don't come on the comm (and if they do, they lurk). So, yeah, we rant in a fannish space, ( ... )

Yes, you're right about that. They could very well lurk, and in reality we should just assume they do since it is a public forum, right? At least, in terms of thinking about what comments we want seen and which we don't. At any rate this was just the one instance where it just blew out of proportion.
But policing a comm for comments will be difficult, I'm sure, however, something will probably have to be done now in order to prevent something like this from happening again. I can definitely sympathize with the mods right about now, that much is for sure. :|
