Oh livejournal, what has happened to you?

Today I went and picked blackberries. They are little and squishy, and very hairy. It could be worse. They are not too seedy, and they are extremely sweet, and most of the hair washed off them anyway. I miss my husband.

Mochi wants to know if anyone on the east coast wants to invite him to stay with them while his mommy and daddy find a place to live in New York. It is Mochi's birthday today. He is six years old. He is now comfortably middle-aged. Except for his asthma. It doesn't like all this smoke.

His birthday has made me a little sad, because it makes me realize that, provided things go according to plan, I will out-live him. That just isn't fair. Pets should get to live as long as we do.

So instead of the normal three days I left my tepache for a week. Instead of tasting sweet and mildly fermented this stuff actually smelled and tasted like alcohol, and so much of the sugar had been converted that we had to add more to make it tasty. I am moving in 11 days. It is all starting to sink in, and I am starting to get a little bit sad. I am looking forward to being back in CA for a bit, but mostly am terrified of New York. Scary.
