I've always loved poetry. In school, I could never get enough of it. I've always had a thing for Robert Frost's works for some reason. It was probably because of my dad.

And I have written some. I have my angst-y stuff (I got published in a poetry compilation book when I was in elementary school. They picked so many schools from so many regions and selected some from each school for the book. I was 8 and my poem was angtsy then, lol, about my dad and whenever I'd see him again). In my Junior English competition, I won the poetry division. Haha, that sounds kinda lame -.-'

Of course I had my teenager, life is unfair-type stuff and my cheesy romantic feeling ones. I was never good with expressing my emotions out loud so I always used my pen to do it.

Just chiming in to add to the Robert Frost love. I especially adore the poem of his that goes:

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."

*sighs* How nostalgic! How pretty, too. There's just something a little sad, yet inspiring and hopeful about it.

Ah yes, Stopping By Woods on A Snowy Evening - I really like that one.

I wish I was still into poetry as much as I was when I was younger. I adored it. I had books of it that I would read over and over and when I went to the book store, it was always to the poetry section first, lol. I had a long struggling romance with poetry it seems and though we've parted ways, you never forget your first love -.-'
(oh that sounded bad, lol)

It sounds like you had a very torrid relationship with your first love. What a rocky romance! But I find it hard to believe that you would part ways with poetry so completely, especially after having enjoyed the topic so much before. Even to the point of visiting it first every time at the bookstore. Surely there must be some part of you that still feels the urge to read and write it, right?

The only type of poetry I can write is free verse, because even to this day... I still don't fully understand how to use feet and meters. XD

I actually like the kinda old stuff like Shakespeare and Tennyson. David Harkins when I feel like being modernish. I dislike Hemmingway. Poe's really not one of my favorites, but I still read him from time to time.

Ah, poetry. I've loved poems since I was a wee little one, since quite a few children's books are full of rhyme. I am even one of those people who actually BUY poetry. Really. Words and word play are some of my all-time favorite things. (I really should have been an English teacher...) Lots of verse in hymns and songs ( ... )

Lord Byron. I think one of my favorite poems would have to be his 'She Walks in Beauty' The next would be Maya Angelou's 'Phenomenal Woman' OH! I don't remember what the title was but there was this one where he(?) says ( ... )

That would be Dylan Thomas! He wrote the poem for his father, who was on his deathbed at the moment. I believe it was meant as an encouragement for his father to cling on to life and not give in so easily. Whatever the true meaning, you chose a really fabulous poem to quote.

And ouch. I feel sorry for your poor, abused muse. D:
