It makes it easier that she insisted her funeral be a celebration of life instead of a grieving over death. It also made it easier that one of her mantras to us for the last couple of months was that we be “up, up, up.” Her voice would always rise with a combination of feistiness and pep as she said that.

As I type this sentence, my final assignment of high school is in the process of coming out of my printer. There...it just finished.  It’s over. My last homework assignment of high school is over. I've decided the reason I look down for the most part when I walk is not because:

A) I am pessimistic.

B) I am avoiding making eye contact with others.

C) I have no interest in the world around me.

But because I have a cat, and when I don't look down as I'm walking, I trip over him.
