Summary: With friends like these, it's no wonder Lukas has issues with humanity. Human AU.
Lukas's eyes blink open, only to behold the presence of a familiar face. A face he was under the impression he'd escaped.
“Good morning,” Mircea says as if nothing has changed, eyes glittering in the dim torchlight. Lukas has only just risen, but it is obviously not morning.
“Fuck off,” Lukas replies, and groans and shuts his eyes. Mircea's lips curl into a pout as he calls, “Arthur!”
“What is it, Mircea?”
“Lukas does not appreciate all of my effort to get him here. Fix that.”
Arthur appears in Lukas's line of vision, a skeleton hanging off one arm with bones that are pristine and white and a mottled bruise forming a ring around his neck. He raises one thick, dark eyebrow - its deep shade has always made Lukas wonder if the Brit is truly naturally blond. “Lukas, you are a stubborn arse. We had a hell of a time keeping you this level.”
Lukas sits up, shoving Mircea's face away and pointedly ignoring Arthur's words. He's sitting on an altar in what appears to a be a temple in the middle of a dark lake, lit only by three torches. The remains of a makeshift spell surround his stone bed; closer inspection reveals that Mircea's right hand is wrapped in bandages. Both men look and reek of death; this is not surprising to Lukas, considering they've been gone for years. “Why did you drag me down here?” he demands, stepping off the altar and immediately having to grasp it for balance. Mircea offers a hand, but he doesn't take it.
“All important things come in threes,” Arthur pointedly says, stroking the skeleton's skull with a grace Hamlet would envy.
Mircea adds, “We miss terrorizing the world.”
“You're our ticket out.”
